Lt. Col. John Thomas Kite

Lt Col. John Thomas Kite, 88 of Solomons, MD passed away peacefully on April 24, 2020 in Solomons, MD. He was born on August 21, 1931 in Kansas City, MO to the late Helen Catherine and Don Frederick Kite. He married Edna Kite in California and they had three beautiful children from their marriage. They later divorced, however stayed friends and she preceded him in death in 1993.

John joined the US Air Force in 1955 and served as a Navigator. He retired in 1975 after serving over 20 years as a Lt. Colonel.  He moved to Calvert Co. in 2015 from Charleston, SC. and enjoyed traveling around the world, playing golf, and bowling.  He was kind and generous, sometimes goofy, and always sweet and precious. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

John is survived by his three daughters, Cathy Van Houten of Waldorf, MD, Cindy Kite of Umea, Sweden, and Linda Kite of Prince Frederick, MD; grandchildren, Nina, Amy, Angela, Jonathan, and Alex; great-grandchildren, Brett, Logan, Carlymae, AJ, and Davis. He was preceded in death by his parents, ex-wife, and sisters, Margaret and Marie Therese.

Funeral Services will be private for immediate family. The family ask for memorial contributions to be made in John’s name to the Asbury Solomons Benevolent Care Fund, www.theasburyfoundation.org/donate 11100 Asbury Circle, Solomons, MD 20688 and or Calvert Hospice, www.calverthospice.org, P.O.     Whenever you came to California to visit your parents, your sister, Margaret and your nieces, Anne and Carol, I was always invited to the festivities. It was always a wonderful time with great stories, great food and many laughs. I will miss you Johnny.
