Lauren Jean “Lorie” Wilson
December 27, 1960- November 30, 2021

On November 30, 2021, Lauren Jean “Lorie” Wilson passed away after an unexpected illness. Lorie was raised in District Heights, but moved her family to Southern Maryland in the early 1980’s. She spent some of her life with her feet in the sand in Delaware and Ocean City while visiting with family and friends. Lorie also enjoyed camping and gardening both flowers and vegetables. She had completed raised vegetable beds at her new home adorned with her grandchildren’s painted handprints. She got a thrill out of getting together with her former Suitland High School classmates, known as the “Suitland Sisters”. Her heart was fulfilled with her nurturing nature as she cared for any and all animals. Her careful manner began when she was a young child rescuing found cats and dogs. Her true love was in her family. She adored every one of them and thoroughly enjoyed cooking big meals and hosting everyone for the holidays. Lorie’s legacy of love is carried on with her sons, Paul Thomas and his wife, Kristin, of Prince Frederick and Jason Kellam and his wife, Amanda, of Mechanicsville; grandchildren, Maci Thomas, Jack Wasson, Pheobe Thomas, Hunter Kellam, and Axle Kellam; companion, Charles Wilson; siblings, Patricia Lukas of Burtonsville, Cynthia Stivers and her husband, Daniel, of Huntingtown, and Donna Ringgold and her husband, Wess of Ripley; her furry children, Jax and Nila; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lawrence and Jean Carey, her sister, Elaine M. Carey, and her brother in law, Gary Lukas.
Lorie’s family would like memorial contributions in her name, in lieu of flowers, to be directed to Mechanicsville Volunteer Rescue Squad, Inc., PO Box 15, Mechanicsville, MD 20659 or online at www.co29.org.

My dear sister Lorie oh how I wish we were kids again. Even tho you were younger I still liked to play with you and take care of you. As grown ups I loved cooking with you at our big family holiday dinners. And the small gatherings also. We were a team of Chef’s that went round an round the kitchen in any house. We were
as they say In’Synic . Our daily chats that would go into the hours of the next day.
Sometimes you fell asleep while we
watched TV and listened to the police, fire and rescue channels on our scanners we loved so much. Now I’m still here and you are no longer with me. What do I do? You were my only and best friend. I will continue to talk to you and send you messages. Come see me if you can. But no funny tricks!. I love you and will miss you forever. In my heart I say always here’s to us kid❤💔💋😥 To Paul and Jason and the families I’m so sad you have to experience this at your age. Its so hard to lose a mom. She was your only mom her whole life. She never gave up trying to get the best for her boys. And then she had other little ones to mother. She did the same for them. Was always there. Remember her in all she did and hear her voice when you do something and she would remark on it. Love to you and the family. Always Aunt Cindy and Uncle Danny
I have not known Lorie for very long , But I can tell you she had a beautiful soul and was one of the funny ladies of the Suitland ladies .
She will be deeply missed by all the ladies .
I will never go on another pontoon ride again , the ride with her was one of the funniest experiences of my life . A memory I will not forget.
Camping and the beach will not be the same without her.
With deepest sympathy
For Lorie’s family and loved ones .

What can I say about one of my dearest friends. We love you. We have had some of the best times these last 8 or 9 years. Our lunches, mountain and beach trips will not be the same but we will continue them because that is what you would have wanted. To Paul, Jason, Cindy, her grands and the rest of the family always remember the love she had for you
We extend our sincerest sympathy to Lorie’s family at the loss of a your mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and our dear friend. She will be sorely missed by us on this great adventure in grandparenting. We’re positive that the Good Lord welcomed you home with open arms and what a sweet reunion was awaiting you in heaven with departed friends and family.
My deepest condolences to Lorie’s (Lauren) dear family & friends. Prayers for your comfort and strength during this time and the days to come. I worked with Lauren at the Architect of the Capitol (AOC) from June 02 until she left. Always, always so bubbly, friendly & helpful. Lauren loooooved to prepare for the Annual 2nd Floor Christmas party. I’m truly thankful a few of us got together this year in July for dinner. Lauren will be truly missed. Rest in sweet peace Sweetie!!
Paul, Jason, Patty, Cindy, Donna, all the Carey/Wilson family, and the rest of the family members, you have our deep sympathy. Joann and I were surprised hearing about Lorie’s declining health and how quickly she has left us. I cannot help but recall all the fond memories of Aunt Jean and Uncle Hank and my Carey “five cousins” and all the family Thanksgiving, Christmas and Summer parties on Elmhurst. Two boys and five girls were not good odds but we had fun. Lorie was such a kind and helpful person. I know she will be missed by all. May your hearts be filled with the beautiful memories of happy times you have spent together celebrating a well-lived life. Our prayers are with you and your family and that God will give you comfort and healing during this difficult time.
Though I never had the chance to meet Lorie in person, I have enjoyed stories of the sisters’ life from her sister and my co-worker, Patty. Peace and blessings to the entire family as you both mourn the loss but also
celebrate the life of your Dear Lorie.
My deepest condolences for the loss of Lorie. The Carey girls are truly special people and Lorie was no exception. Her passing leaves a hole in the hearts of all her knew her. My prayers and thoughts will continue for all of the people who were fortunate to have known and loved Lorie.
I’m so missing my friend, Suitland sister, Dinghy Do Do. I’m so glad I got to tell you how much I still needed and loved you. You were always there for me. I know you gave me a little sign the other day that you were still and always will be with me. I know it was you just like I knew Aine was with you and I on a few occasions. You are forever in my heart. Love you my Dinghy Angel with that awesome pink cowboy hat
