Larry Gene Starling

April 24, 1946- October 26, 2021

Larry Gene Starling, 75, of Dunkirk passed away October 26, 2021. He was born April 24, 1946 in Washington DC to James Dallas and Mildred Virginia (Thompson) Starling. Larry was raised in Tuxedo, MD and joined the United States Marine Corps on February 17, 1966. Larry served in country combat in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on February 14, 1969 receiving the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnamese Service Medal, Presidential Unit Citation, Good Conduct Medal and Sharpshooter Badge. Larry married Kathleen Marks on May 30, 1966 and they lived in New Carrollton before moving to Dunkirk. He worked as a construction superintendent for many years, retiring in 2009. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post 108 in Cheverly and in his spare time enjoyed bowling, hunting, golfing, shooting pool, playing poker, and the lottery, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Larry is survived by his wife Kathleen Starling of Dunkirk, children Robert Starling and wife Sandy of Owings, Cynthia Starling of Bowie, and Bradley Starling and wife Judy of Jarrettsville, grandchildren Amanda, Holly, Jacob, William, and Spencer, and great-grandchildren Dylan, McKinley, Camran, and Kaiden. He is also survived by sisters Agnes and Brenda and sisters-in-law Pam and Joyce. He was preceded in death by his grandson Robert Andrew Starling and siblings James, Raymond, Arlene, and Debbie.
