Kenneth Lee “Hoof” Hoofnagle
May 16, 1939 – April 10, 2020
Kenneth Lee “Hoof” Hoofnagle, 80, of Lusby, MD and formerly of District Heights, MD passed away on April 10, 2020 at his residence. Born May 16, 1939 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late William B. Hoofnagle and Ethel (McGunigal) Hoofnagle.
Hoof graduated from Suitland High School in 1958 and married his wife, Margaret “Dee Dee” (Zanelotti) Hoofnagle on October 10, 1959 in District Heights, MD. He served in the Air Force National Guard. Hoof and Dee Dee moved to Calvert County from Prince George’s County in December 1969. He started H & H Construction Company with Arnold Humphries in the early 1970’s. Hoof was a supervisor and plant manager for the University of Maryland – Chesapeake Biological Laboratory for twenty five years. He was Charter President of the Solomons Optimist Club and a member of SMILE. He enjoyed carpentry and golf. Hoof was instrumental in remodeling and maintaining the former Chesapeake Hills Country Club.
Hoof is survived by his wife Margaret “Dee Dee” Hoofnagle; his granddaughter, Chelsea of Lusby, MD; siblings, Wm. B. Hoofnagle (Ann) of NC and Richard Hoofnagle of Deer Park, TX; sisters in law, Lucy Walsh (John) of Berlin, MD and Geraldine Kalal (Paul) of Virginia Beach, VA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son Timothy.

Oh, Dee Dee, I am so very sorry for your loss of Hoof. You were such an amazing couple, and he loved you so much. He always just beamed anytime he talked about you, and how he loved dancing with you. Whenever I think of Kenny, he is smiling. He was so nice to everyone at CBL, making Christmas gifts, always helping us, and just generally a positive force. We missed him when he left. Our thoughts are with you Dee Dee.
Ken always had an upbeat demeanor that was catchy. I pray for him and for your consolation. Peace be with you!
