Joseph Plummer “Bubba” Stallings, Jr.
June 1, 1937 – August 28, 2022
Joseph Plummer “Bubba” Stallings, Jr., 85, of Lothian passed away August 28, 2022. He was born June 1, 1937, in Bristol to Joseph Plummer Sr. and Edna (Catterton) Stallings. Bubba married Bertha “Sally” Norfolk on January 21, 1961, and they lived in Waysons Corner. Bubba worked as an equipment operator for Hopkins and Wayson, Inc. for many years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing BINGO and slot machines and coaching softball. Bubba coached the Waysons softball team to numerous championship game appearances, winning it all in 1987. Bubba loved people, never met a stranger, and could talk to anyone. He was a great storyteller, and as someone once said, “if his lips were moving, he was lying”. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Bubba will be greatly missed by everyone.
Bubba was preceded in death by his wife Sally Stallings and siblings Agnes Wayson, Earl Stallings, and Carol Hyde. He is survived by his son Mike Stallings and his wife Sharon of Chesapeake Beach, grandchildren Katie Ward of Chesapeake Beach, Ryon Stallings (Alex Lovullo) of Huntingtown, and Joseph Stallings (Mara Miller) of Shady Side, and great grandchildren Ryleigh, Kolbe, Lonnie, Charleigh, and Lincoln.

Mike, Sharon, and Family:
Bubba was a character for sure! He was full of fun, laughter, and lots of nonsense at times! He loved his family especially his grandchildren. Your parents were not just related to us but were neighbor’s to my parents, brother, sister, and brother in-law for many years. Bubba would drive around the park and stop at our driveway and shoot the breeze while someone was sitting on the porch at our house. Bubba referred to me as “Robin Cox” not just Robin and it didn’t matter where I saw him I was always “Robin Cox” even though I had been married for 41 years to Mike. I referred to Bubba as the “Mayor of Wayson’s Corner” he always knew what was going on around Wayson’s. He will be missed by everyone but the memories of Bubba will live on forever in the hearts of everyone.
Take care and know he is now with his beloved Sally.
I/we at Autumn Lake at Crofton are so sorry for the loss of Bubba. He was such a wonderful man and always brightened the day when I came to work. We will definitely miss him yelling “Hey I need me a pepsi” (as he put his fist in the air) Lol. He had nicknames for all the staff and always had a story to tell. He will greatly be missed. Much love to you all.

He reminded so many of us of my Grandfather, Reverdy Catterton. He was a great to be around, and always made you smile. Rest in peace Bubba, you will be missed.

Mike, I’m so sorry for your loss. Bubba was a great man who always had that big smile on his face. So many great memories of him on the softball fields. God took a great one home in Bubba.
Prayers to Mike and family. Always loved Bubba. Always remember that big smile down the first base line yelling “keep your eye on the apple”. He made life and sports fun for all.
Mike,
I’m sorry to hear of the passing of Bubba. He was a huge influence in my life. Please know you’re in my thoughts.
