Joseph Bruce Kernan, 90, of Prince Frederick, Maryland, passed away at his home on December 12, 2025. Born on January 18, 1935, in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late Everett Thomas Kernan and Lavalette Marie Svrjcek (Shelley).

Bruce served in the U.S. Army in the 2nd Armored Division.  After returning from his deployment in Germany, he became a Design Draftsman for Westinghouse and retired from there after 30 years.

He loved the Lord and served as a Stephens Minister while living in Arnold, MD.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 65 years, Marian Virginia Kernan and his children: Kathleen Kernan Dougan (Thomas) of Gambrills, MD and Jacqueline Suzanne Carpenter (Thomas) of Prince Frederick, MD. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Kimberly Suzanne Rison (Raymond) of Waldorf, MD, his great-granddaughter, Madison Quinn Rison and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Anita McIntyre and brother William F. Svrjcek, Jr.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Waters Memorial United Methodist Church, Saint Leonard, MD, from 12:00 p.m. until the time of funeral services at 1:00 p.m., with Pastor Sherry Emerson officiating. Interment will follow at Chesapeake Highlands Cemetery.
