April 23 – Obituary: John Wilson Bowen

John Wilson was like the big brother I never had growing up. No matter how annoying me and Little Linda were to him he was always kind and good to us. Didn’t mind at all about us ganging up on him and trying to beat him up WWF style lol. I am so grateful for all of the fond memories I have with John Wilson at Dicus Mill Road and in southern Maryland at Uncle Tommy’s. John you are surely missed and I know you are in heaven having a good ole time with Aunt Bean and Mom-Mom. Maybe while you’re up there you all can soften the hearts of some certain Bowen’s and Thorpe’s and remind them that life’s too short. Love you. See you again one day Big Brother.

Joy and Johnny,
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of John Wilson. We will keep you all in our prayers as you navigate this difficult time. We are left with good memories of you all and us, like our trips to Skyline Drive. Remember the Cardinal Motel in Luray where the woman was going to save us some money by renting us ONE room instead of two! Or the time in Front Royal where Johnny and I had such a hard time trying to erect the tent until we figured out that Danny/Phylllis Baker had left out the center pole of the tent! We send along our love to you.

Joy,
I was in shock to hear of John’s passing. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. You have been a rock in his life for a long time and I appreciate and love you for all you do for the grandbabies. I have a picture of my kids at Christina and John’s old house that I look at daily and remember all the good times when we were together. John with be missed.

Love to you all,
Katie and George Nelson

April 10 – Obituary: John Wilson Bowen

Joy
My heart is heavy with grief. I can recall all the weekends that John Wilson spent at my mothers riding his four wheeler. My daughter Linda and he spent so much time together as kids. My mom loved having him around. When I spoke told her about John Wilson, she recalled that her happiest memories as a child were times spent with all the cousins at Uncle Tommy and aunt Pats. I really have no words of wisdom. I only hope you find some comfort in knowing that there are many people whom you know and those who you may never meet that have memories full of love and happiness of John Wilson and the laughter and good times they shared. We will remember you and his children in our prayers

Mr. & Mrs. Bowen, What a shock. I worked in the installation dept. of the Gott Company for many years and I enjoyed working with and getting to know John. He was a very nice easy going person with a good work ethic, of which I was very grateful. May God bless you and his children, may he rest in peace and may his memory be a blessing.
