MY DEAR FRIEND JACK, I CAN’T BELIEVE YOU ARE GONE.  I CALLED YOU TODAY TO WISH YOU A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY.  WHEN I GOT NO ANSWER TO EITHER PHONE  I HAD MY SON JIMMY, WHO I AM LIVING WITH NOW, RESEARCH FOR ME.  GUESS YOU THOUGHT I HAD PASSED WHEN I KNOW YOU WOULD HAVE CALLED ME IN AUGUST ON MY BIRTHDAY.  I THOUGHT I HAD CALLED YOU TO LET YOU KNOW THIS BUT GUESS NOT.  I CAME TO LIVE WITH JIMMY AND HIS WIFE BILLIE WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE HOSPITAL LAST JANUARY.   EVEN THOUGH WE HAVEN’T BEEN ABLE TO GET TOGETHER FOR LUNCH IN A LONG WHILE, WILL STILL MISS YOU.  SAY HI TO JIM FOR ME; HE’S BEEN GONE 15 YEARS NOW, AND I WILL SEE YOU GUYS BEFORE TOO LONG.

December 16 – Obituary: John Raymond “Jack” Gibson

Things I’ve thought about since losing Uncle Jack:

Memories of Eric and I getting picked up for trips to go to the mall!

Trips to Aunt Theresa’s pool where I’m sure he heard – “hey Uncle Jack watch this”  more times then he can count.

We remember the birthday cake that was just frosting,  perfectly spread frosting, over a styrofoam cake. He loved watching Mom try to cut it.

When he got dressed as Santa Clause at the age when we had stopped believing – but then “BAM maybe Santa Clause does exist!”

The ridiculous Christmas presents that only he would think of, like a perfectly wrapped, and I mean perfectly wrapped, red brick with money tucked in the holes!

Or laundry detergent, again perfectly wrapped with a little money he slid in through a tiny cut he made after he had wrapped it!

Going to see the movie “The BLOB” – Who would ever think about taking their 7 and 5 year old nephews – I guess he was scared too!

The long talks at mom-moms – that I thought were never gonna end as kid – but then never wanted them to stop, as I got older.

He liked to make fun of me because I thought deer were Effelants!

For a  man that never had kids, he was the best, coolest and most fun uncle we could have ever had.

One who lived on the same road as us growing up – makes me wish I had taken more trips just to stop to say “hello!”

Uncle Jack will always generate fun memories and be a person we will talk about for many more years to come!

We love and miss you.
