John “Douglas” Pardoe, Sr., 93, of Lusby, Maryland, passed away on November 1, 2026, at his residence.

Born on May 12, 1933, in Prince Frederick, Maryland, Douglas was the son of the late Mary Jones Pardoe and James Pardoe.

Douglas attended Calvert High School and went on to work as an Oil Burner Mechanic. He took pride in his work and enjoyed a life centered around the things he loved most. He especially enjoyed spending time on the farm, tending to his garden, trying his luck at gambling, and, most importantly, being surrounded by his family.

On April 14, 1954, Douglas married the love of his life, Barbara Jane (Shea) Pardoe. They shared 60 years of marriage until her passing on August 12, 2014.

Douglas is survived by his four children: Debbie Chapman and her husband, Danny, of Lusby, Maryland; Terry Conner and her husband, Ronnie, of Prince Frederick, Maryland; John Pardoe and his wife, Karen, of Lusby, Maryland; and Sharon Cooksey and her husband, Andy, of Prince Frederick, Maryland.

He is also survived by his grandchildren, Steven Chapman, Missy Lopez, Amanda Simms, Brandi Walker, Jason Pardoe, Ricky Sederbaum, and Haley Walk; his great-grandchildren, Cole, Brayden, Lucas, Oliver, Jaxon, Cameron, Taylor, Caleb, Cheyenne, Sean, Jagger, Pheonix, Clinton, Brooklyn, Gavin, Jasmine and Owen; and his great-great-grandchildren, Isabella, and Bryson. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to his parents and beloved wife, Douglas was preceded in death by his siblings, Albert Pardoe, Clifford Pardoe, Gorman Pardoe, Irene Horsemon, and Howard Pardoe.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Rausch Funeral Home in Lusby, Maryland.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, November 5, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at Middleham Chapel Episcopal Church in Lusby, Maryland, with Rev. Erin Shank officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Douglas will be lovingly remembered for his love of the outdoors, his enjoyment of life’s simple pleasures, and the many years he shared with his family. His legacy will live on through the generations of family who loved him and the memories they will forever cherish. Douglas and Barbara are now together again.

In lieu of flowers the family request contributions to be made in Douglas’s name to Middleham & St. Peters Parish and or Solomons Volunteer Rescue Squad and Fire Department.
