Jerel Lawrence Wert

Jerel Lawrence Wert, 52, of Chesapeake Beach passed away January 16, 2025. He was born on December 11, 1972 in Washington, DC. To Tyra Joseph and Margaret Patricia (Pizza) Wert. Jerel grew up in Upper Marlboro and graduated from Gwynn Park High School. He was a self-employed carpenter and did a lot of work for others including St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and Father Stack. He was an active member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church where he taught CCD and was a member of Knights of Columbus. In his spare time Jerel enjoyed music, playing the guitar and drums, and hot rods.
Jerel is survived by his mother Margaret “Patty” Insley, siblings Paul Wert and Nikki Windsor, nieces Ashley and Brittany Windsor and Brooklyn Freeland, nephews Zaiden Foley, Kannon Beamon, and Nicholas Wert, and stepbrother Donnie Christiani. He was preceded in death by his father Tyra Wert, stepfather Gary Insley, and grandparents Paul and Peggy Pizza and Florence Wert.
A time of fellowship and refreshment will follow in the church hall immediately following the services. All are welcome.
