Janet Irene Hancock of Dunkirk, Maryland, passed away at the age of 75 on September 29, 2026, at Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick.
She was born on October 31, 1950, the daughter of Carl and Helen Hamilton. Janet resided in College Park, Riverdale, and Virginia, before settling in Calvert County. She worked as an overnight stocker at the Wal Mart in Prince Frederick, and most recently at their location in Dunkirk, becoming friends with the many colleagues whom she met during her 28-year career. In her personal time, she loved watching Hallmark movies, and shopping on the QVC channel.
Janet was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Earl Hancock, Jr., and her parents, Carl and Helen Hamilton. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Sheila Marie Hall; brother-in-law, Mike Bartholow; her niece, Betty Hall, and the entire Hancock family, who continue to cherish Janet and her memory.

My sincere condolences to Janet’s family & friends I was so sorry to hear of her passing. I worked overnights with her at Walmart in Dunkirk. She was a bright light with always encouraging words & a smile to share. Janet was a very hard worker like the little energizer bunny always moving & such an inspiration to be around.
