Jane Connelly (Age 90) of Solomons, MD formerly of North Bethesda, MD passed away May 11, 2024
Jane, a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister-in-law, went home to the Father, with her daughters by her side over Mother’s Day weekend. Jane graduated High School at Sacred Heart in Grosse Pointe, MI, received a Bachelor of Arts from Newton College of the Sacred Heart in Newton, Massachusetts (now known as Boston College) and a Masters Degree in Pastoral Counseling from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD.
Jane and Bob, moved from North Bethesda, MD in 1993, to retire in Lusby, MD along the Patuxent and eventually moving to Asbury Solomons in 2015. As members of the United States Power Squadron all their married life, much time was spent together on the Chesapeake Bay. An active member of The Solomons Island Yacht Club (SIYC), Jane was asked to assume the role of Chaplain when her husband, Deacon Bob, passed away. Jane was an active parishioner at St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Rockville, MD, and later at Our Lady Star of the Sea in Solomons, MD, serving as an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, Lector and choir member. She was a member of Teams of Our Lady, a movement promoting married spirituality, for over 50 years.
Jane’s calling was being involved in the lives of children and young adults. She volunteered with the National Children’s Choir in Washington, DC for many years, a teacher at Georgetown Visitation in Washington, DC and guidance counselor St. Mary’s Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD.
Her children and grandchildren take tremendous comfort knowing their parents are sailing together for eternity. Jane lived a blessed life and loved so many people that shared in her journey on Earth. What a beautiful and fascinating woman. We are so lucky and happy she shared her very special wonderful daughter, Mary Beth with our Robinson family. We wished we could have met and thanked her in person. From our entire Robinson family warmest thoughts and prayers go out to Jane and her loving family.

Jane was a wonderful and talented woman. She was also a great mentor and such a delight to spend time with after work. She was smart, witty, and so much fun! Thank you for your friendship, Jane. Rest in peace, my friend.
