James Norris Brady, 36, of Saint Leonard, Maryland, passed away on September 28, 2026.
James was born on March 7, 1990, to Laura (Welsh) and John Brady, Jr. He was born and raised in Prince Frederick and spent his entire life in Calvert County, where he built lifelong friendships. He graduated from Huntingtown High School with the Class of 2008.
James was incredibly smart, quick-witted, and funny. He had a way of making people laugh, often when they least expected it. His sense of humor was uniquely James—sometimes perfectly timed, sometimes completely unexpected, and usually guaranteed to leave someone laughing. Those who knew him will remember his wit, his personality, and the way he could make even an ordinary moment memorable.
James was fiercely loyal to the people he loved. He cared deeply and was always someone his friends and family could count on.
James loved the water and was a certified lifeguard throughout high school. He loved cars, particularly Fords, dirt bikes, BMX bikes, and heavy metal music. He was also a true creature of habit. James knew what he liked and tended to stick with it. He also had a special place in his heart for animals. His pets, Indie, Loki, and Lady, were family to him.
But above everything else, James loved his daughter Addelynn Raine Brady. He was playful and silly with Addelynn. He made her laugh, played with her, and treasured the simple moments of being her dad.
As Addelynn grows, her family will make sure she knows her daddy. She will hear his stories, see his pictures, learn about the things he loved, and hear about the funny, stubborn, loving, unforgettable man he was.
James is survived by his parents, Laura and John Brady, Jr., and his beloved daughter, Addelynn Raine Brady. The family will receive friends on Saturday October 17, 2026 from 10 AM until the time of a celebration of life honoring James at Emmanuel Church Huntingtown, located at 3800 Old Town Road, Huntingtown, Maryland At 11 AM.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in James’s memory to The Spot/Southern Maryland Spay & Neuter or to the Humane Society of Calvert County.

October 14 – Obituary: James Norris Brady
I’ve known James since 07-08? Met him in “the basement.” Every time I went over to Glen and Joe’s to hang out , if he wasn’t already there, he’d show up shortly thereafter. From band practice to just hanging out, it was like “That 70’s Show,” only in modern times. James used to remind me of Anthony Kedis from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, with his long hair. One day, he asked me to cut it SHORT. I wasn’t certain he would like it, but I agreed. At 4’11, I needed a chair of a certain height in order to reach his head …. Someone found the wheelchair, which was the perfect height, and I had James in the wheelchair doing wheelies in the corner with Joe while I was cutting hair. Those two made me laugh until my eyes teared up. So the first time I cut his hair, was in the wheelchair in their basement. To my surprise, he kept it short and he liked it. Whenever I went to cut hair from then on, it was in the wheelchair. James was there on the nights where everyone just migrated to Glen and Joe’s, because that was the place to be. He was a staple there, and he was a great person to speak with if you had an issue that required an unbiased opinion. As time went by, I went down a different road than the boys did, but eventually I found my way back. The day James got married, he came into my work and I cut his hair. I was so happy for him. I was also thinking about how far we all had come from those days in the basement to becoming husbands and wives, mothers and fathers, starting families of our own. This is something I never thought would happen, because James was such a good person and a good friend just getting into the groove of family life. Sometimes we take for granted that our “people” will be around later and we don’t show them appreciation in the moments we should. I wish I could go back in time and tell him how much I appreciated having him around, the laughter he helped create and the unique perspective he had on anything and everything that came up in conversation. James was an awesome human being and he loved his family, especially his baby girl. I feel blessed to have known James for as long as I have, as do the rest of his friends. He will be greatly missed.

Have known James for a year and a half or so,,, he had moved into the home where I live,,, I can honestly say James was truly a good guy who cared deeply about his daughter,,,I used to compliment him on how well he was doing when it came to her. I would end up telling him to keep doing what you’re doing and down the road you will always have a daughter who deeply loves you. I was at University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore having just had Esophageal Cancer surgery when I heard about this,,,I couldn’t believe it. James we all love and miss you,,,,Rip brother….

We’ve know James for many years and always enjoyed spending time with him. James was a listener but could make a group laugh with little effort. His love for his daughter could be heard in his voice and seen on his handsome face. James was also his parents biggest fan. He loved to spend time with the family. James will be missed. Praying for Laura, Johnny, and his adorable daughter.
