June 4, 1931 – May 15, 2021
James Fredrick Arthur went to be with his lord, May 15, 2021. He was raised by his grandparents in Kalispell, Montana and joined the United States Army in 1954. He was stationed at Fort Belvoir where he trained as a medic. James attended a USO party in 1955 where he met the love of his life, Jane Ellen Greene. They were married 3 months later on February 11, 1956. James was a very educated person and attended numerous schools throughout the years including; Montana State University, Indiana State College, Prince George’s Community College, and Temple School of Electronics, where he also worked as an instructor during his optician’s apprenticeship. James was also an extremely hard worker and held many jobs throughout his life. He was employed as a guild optician, welder, and electrical engineer, just to name a few. His interests in machine works, electronics, and opticianry led him to start his own business in 1970, JA Optronics, which his family still operates. James coined the word Optronics, marrying his electronics business with the optical business and the word is still used in the industry today. James was a member of the Civil Air Patrol, Lions Club, and was a ruling elder at Clinton Presbyterian Church. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, camping, traveling, painting, drawing, ceramics, photography and developing photos, building health kits with his boys, bird watching, flower gardening, flying, and visiting state and national parks. He also enjoyed making breakfast for anyone who came to stay at his house and his beer waffles were known by the entire family.

Mr. Arthur was such an amazing patient and person. I would love to hear the stories he would share along with Mrs. Arthur. I still have the card and gift they gave me when I was pregnant with my second son. They are truly one of my favorite couples I had the pleasure to care for before I returned to school. His passing is truly heartbreaking. Prayers and condolences to the entire family.
Terri and I offer our deepest condolences to the Arthur family. I still remember the evening in 1955, when My sister, Jane, brought Jim and another couple home for dinner. And the rest is history. Jim left us too soon!
Jim was truly a remarkable person. I met him years ago when he came to service my edger. I always looked forward to seeing him on his many visits to our practice. I enjoyed his storytelling and his humor. All the staff @ JA Optronics have been top notch & I am certain that’s because of Jim’s training. I will miss seeing the man that not always wore the bolo with the scorpion in it, but also a man that always wore a smile. My sincere condolences go out to his family. God bless you each with comfort and peace which only He can give.
