James Era “Jimmy” Moffett, Sr.

James Era “Jimmy” Moffett, Sr., 72, of Lusby and formerly of Chesapeake Beach passed away November 2, 2022. He was born February 4, 1950, in Prince Frederick to Richard G. and Helen V. (Cole) Moffett. Jimmy was raised in Dares Beach and graduated from Calvert High School in 1969. He joined the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1971. He married Judy Robinson in June of 1970 and they lived in Chesapeake Beach until moving to Lusby in 2013. Following his discharge, Jimmy worked for the US Navy Base Guard Force before becoming a police officer. In 1980, Jimmy started his career with the Federal Government, retiring as supervisor with the Department of Navy in 2013. Jimmy was a member of the Southern Pines Senior Center where he enjoyed participating in activities. He was also a life member of the North Beach Volunteer Fire Department. In his spare time he enjoyed listening to doo-wop music, watching TV, playing Keno, and spending time with his grandchildren. Jimmy was also an avid football fan and loved rooting for the Washington Redskins and Washington Nationals.
Jimmy is survived by his loving wife Judy Moffett, children Tracey Coontz of Prince Frederick, Tammy Moffett of Prince Frederick, Tanya Abbasi of Chesapeake Beach, and James Moffett, Jr. and his wife Darlene of Lothian. He is also survived by his grandchildren Shannon Ciccarelli, Tyler Abbasi, and Raegan Moffett, great-grandchildren JadeLynn Hawkins, Alexander Gantt, Jr., and Alera Gantt, his sister Florence “Susie” Michaud and her husband Lou, and numerous nieces and nephews.
