James Edwin Hardy (Jim), 57, passed away peacefully January 12, 2020 at his home in Huntingtown, MD. Jim was born February 5, 1962 in Cheverly, MD to Thomas and Margaret Hardy. Jim was the loving husband of 34 years to Kerry Beth Hardy, and is survived by his children Nicholas Hardy (Shawn), Savannah Hardy Jackson (Trey), and Marshall Hardy, and his grandson Jackson James Hardy. Jim was the owner of Chesapeake Millworks and a respected member of his professional community. Jim was so generous and caring to his family and friends, but you didn’t have to be his friend to enjoy the warmth he brought to a room. His bright smile and infectious laugh will be missed by his loving network of dear friends who loved to travel, golf, and boat together. He lived by his motto, “Don’t get caught not living”.
Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours from 2pm-4pm on January 17th, 2020 at The Cannon Club in Lothian, MD. A celebration of life will begin at 4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The American Heart Association.

February 1 – Obituary: James Edwin Hardy
Kerry and Family, I just found out this sad news. Brian and I are in total shock. I have known you both since our time in Junior High School. We reconnected when Nick and Kevin were in the same Kindergarten class. We have watched our children grow up into adults, but although we haven’t stayed in touch through the years, please know that my heart still aches for you and your loss. Jim loved you beyond measure. He will continue to look down on you and Smile. Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. Sending you hugs.

January 16 – Obituary: James Edwin Hardy
Dear Kerry, Nick, Savannah and Marshall,
Our families crossed paths many years ago and for that we will be forever grateful. We will cherish all the good times we have shared together over the years and the friendships we developed along the way. As time goes by, life changes, people grow apart and while we may not spend time together anymore, the time we did spend together will be cherished and treasured in our hearts forever. The good ole days… (School, Girl Scouts, Huntingtown Hornets, Coaching, Baseball, Homecomings/Proms, Ski Trips to WISP, CMP, Our Pets, etc.) were some of the happiest days of our lives! One of our fondest memories was Jim’s Birthday Party! He was so surprised, touched and so very grateful! That was such a special moment and we will never forget it! We have so many photos and videos that include these special moments in time! Jim was “Larger than Life!”
Jim was a “one of a kind” fun-loving, caring, humorous Gentle Giant who lived life to the fullest in every aspect! His laugh was infectious and his smile was always the warmest. He was such a humble man with a beautiful soul. No one knows this better than you all, his beloved family. Your family, friends, our community and the world will never be the same, he was loved and adored by so many.
Jim was one of the “GREATEST” men we’ve ever had the privilege of knowing. Jim touched the lives of so many people during his short time here on earth. What an amazing person and what a remarkable life! The man upstairs~ God ~must have needed “Big Jim” to assist him in Heaven and Eternal Life.
The death of someone close to us leaves us shocked with grief. We cannot understand how one minute this person was here and the next they are gone. Take your time to mourn and grieve…there is no time limit. The truth is that those we love are never truly gone. The body may have run its course, but the soul lives forever. Surely, Jim will be sending you all signs from heaven on a regular basis.
Words could never express our deepest sympathy, condolences and sadness in the loss of Jim. The ability to feel sympathy for each other is one of the most beautiful traits that we possess as humans. Our hearts break for the entire Hardy family, friends and everyone who loved Jim so very much!
May the outpouring of love and support from your family and friends bring you comfort and strength during this most difficult time and in the coming days ahead. Jim will be missed tremendously! Without a doubt, you all were his world and his love for his family was amazing and such a blessing! Stay strong Hardy family, it’s what he would have wanted! Kids, please take care of your Mom…she will need you now more than ever!
We know loss because we’ve known love. Fly High Big Jim! We will see you on the other side one day!
With our Deepest Sympathy, Love, Thoughts and Prayers to all of you,
April, Chelsea and Brandon
