Growing up in Owings and being surrounded by the King family has given me such fond memories. Iris Mae was beautiful and always so welcoming at their home. It breaks my heart to know of the pain that Buddy and family are going through at this difficult time. I pray that the great memories of your loved one help during the many days ahead without her. Love, Debbie
Iris Mae King was among the kindest, fairest, least judgmental people I have known. We met at Mt. Harmony UMC in 1994 and from our first meeting she showed only kindness, encouragement, humor, and compassion. Through the years we shared our love of music, and she willingly and thoughtfully shared her knowledge of Calvert County, its history, stories of Lower Marlboro, and of her life. I’m grateful to have known you, Iris Mae, and will love you always. Buddy, Skip, and the rest of the family–you have my heartfelt sympathy. Hugs for you all.
Buddy and family we just received the sad news that Iris Mae had passed away. Sue and I send our prayers and condolences. She was a fantastic wife ,mother ,grandmother and great grandmother and she and Buddy had a blessed marriage. It seems like only yesterday that Buddy and I joined forces in Upper Marlboro to lead the Soil Conservation Services programs . But as any successful man has to admit, behind him is a loving caring wife and Iris Mae was that woman. We hope it brings some peace during these sad times to know that she is now resting in the arms of Jesus waiting for that wonderful day when He returns and we are all together again. What a joyous time that will be when we can see our loved ones again.

On behalf of my wife and family please accept our deepest condolences on the passing of your wife Iris Mae. I can still remember from many years ago how your wife came to our house and took myself and my two sisters to Bible School at Mt Harmony. We normally attended Smithville so that year we went to two Bible School sessions. You know Ms King was very persuasive to be able to talk us into doing that!
Upon the return of our 2021 Christmas card, I discovered this sad news. Though it has been a few years since we have had contact with your family, Buddy is often in our thoughts. Your family is in our prayers as we recall with fondness the memories of Iris Mae.
