Hugh Stanley Jackson, Jr.
July 13, 1938 – March 17, 2022
Hugh Stanley Jackson, Jr., 83, of Owings passed away March 17, 2022 at his home. Hugh was born July 13, 1938 in Lower Marlboro to Hugh Stanley, Sr., and Hazel Ethel (Marcellas) Jackson. He served in the U.S. Air Force, serving from October 1956 until he was honorably discharged on October 7, 1960. Hugh married Frances Benton on May 8, 1960 in Charleston, SC. Hugh was a member of the Calvert County Jaycees, a lifelong member of Lower Marlboro UM Church, and was a charter member of the Huntingtown VFD, Prince Frederick Rescue Squad and Elks Lodge. Hugh enjoyed farm life. He raised his family among crops, cattle and horses. His Pennsylvania sister-in-law, Betty Denham, named her beloved Shih Tzu dog” Huey”, and the family adopted him after Betty’s death in 2009. Huey spent 10 years with his Maryland family and was one of Hugh’s biggest joys in his golden years. Hugh also loved camping with his family and friends.
Hugh is survived by his wife of 62 years, Frances Jackson and sons Hugh Jackson III of Huntingtown and John Jackson Lower Marlboro. Also surviving are grandchildren Holly Ensey and husband Sean and Jenny Jackson and Hugh S. Jackson IV, great-granddaughter Ivy Ensey and a sister Carolyn Jackson. Fran , My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the boys for the loss of a husband and a father. You and Hugh mean so much to me. He was truly one of the best friends and persons in my life and I will truly miss him.
Dear Fran, Huey,Rocky and family,
We were so blessed to have Hugh with us for his 83 years. Only four months older than I, he was my childhood playmate. He was so pleasant, even to let me put curlers in his hair. He sat with me at school recess when I had polio. Knowing that he was there was always one of God’s blessings. He whispers to us among the angles.

He was a good man, a beloved husband, father, son, uncle, cousin and friend to many. In the coming days that will come, I pray for all of you. To my Aunt Fran, may the lord shine light into your days ahead as now your husband is your guardian angel. He will always be with you. The greatest love I’ve ever come to know will always be the two of you. May God bless you. I love you so very much.
