Gloria Anne Drake

December 15, 1933- September 14, 2022

Gloria Anne Drake, 88, a longtime resident of Owensville passed away September 14, 2022. She was born December 15, 1933, in Roanoke, VA to Walter Scott and Agnes (Bowers) Shelton. Gloria grew up in Greenbelt, MD and graduated from Greenbelt High School in 1951. She was married to the love of her life, James Albert Drake, for 65 years. Gloria was employed in property management with Greenbelt Realty and Greenbelt Homes Inc., for many years. Following her career in Greenbelt, Gloria managed Boones Mobile Estates for 30 years. Gloria loved her time in Greenbelt and Greenbelt High School. She attended every high school reunion and ran the high graduation committee for 55 years. She was a member of Christ Church in West River, the American Legion Post 206 Women’s Auxiliary in Chesapeake Beach, and a longtime member of the NRA. In her spare time, Gloria enjoyed attending gun shows with her husband. Gloria was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband James Drake and granddaughter Brenda McGurk. She is survived by her children Gradi Thompson of Owings, Brenda O’Dell of North Beach, Bill Brafford of Annapolis, and John Drake of Celina, TX, 4 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
