Gilbert Raymond “Ray” Watson, Jr.
August 10, 1960 – June 20, 2022
Gilbert Raymond “Ray” Watson, 61, passed away June 20, 2022. He is survived by his wife Anne Pauline “Polly” (Bresnahan) Watson, his son Leo Raymond Watson and wife Joelle of North Beach, his daughter Alexis Chloe Watson of Port Republic, his grandson Walker Raymond Watson, sisters Linda Watson of Indian Head and Roxanne Dalrymple and husband Gary of Prince Frederick, and a brother Carl T. Watson of Huntingtown. Ray was preceded in death by his sister Tina Watson and parents Gilbert Watson, Sr.and Terry Lorraine (Weller) Watson.
Ray dearly loved his wife, two wonderful children and adorable grandson, Walker. After graduating from Northern High School, he quickly joined and learned the trade of plumbing. He became a craftsman at the trade and most often was in a supervisory position training other young men to become plumbers. He retired after working in that field for over 35 years. He enjoyed kayaking, boating, fishing, crabbing, and most of all, he loved going on walks on the beaches in Calvert County with his family finding shark teeth. He displayed his findings proudly in his home. In addition to his love for the Chesapeake Bay, he enjoyed as a hobby his motorcycles, trucks, cars, and hunting.
Ray made us all laugh by cracking a joke, including his quick-witted comeback jokes when you were least expecting it. He would make you laugh and put a smile on your face even in bad times. He always tried to make others feel better.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He has left us all great memories to cherish forever.
May he rest in peace!

Ray was my cousin on my Dad’s side, whom I never met, but his sister Linda has told me a lot about him. Only 20 days before Ray, my Dad went to rest, and Ray’s Mom in April. Life’s so short. Prayers for the Weller family. We are taking hard hits. Prayers and hugs going out to his family and my cousins. Rip Dear Ray.
Dear Polly, Leo and Lexie, Ray is fondly remembered by the Hughes family across the street. 21 years as neighbors. When Joe was hurt and could not take care of our fallen apple tree, Ray and Leo did. Ray ran after and caught the individual that was breaking into your home. He was always tinkering in the yard when he retired. Took care of my mailbox lying in the middle of the street. He will not be forgotten. Praying for peace and comfort.
