Gerald Lee Leftwich
December 8, 1956 – July 18, 2021
Gerald Lee Leftwich, 64, of Lothian, MD passed away July 18, 2021 surrounded by family. He was born December 8, 1956 in Takoma Park, MD to William Frank and Esther Irene (Pilkerton) Leftwich. Gerry was a roofing salesman prior to retirement.
Gerry loved life to the fullest, his happiest moments were when he was with family and friends. He loved music and entertaining, steaming crabs (the best ever!), golfing and playing darts. Gerry was the front man for many bands, in his time “Pure Luck” and “The Wanted Band” most notably. He was a lover of anything Elvis, and he performed his songs often and amazingly in his line-ups.
It is hard to express the emptiness that is felt by all that loved Gerry, but we know that he is now at peace and rejoicing with some very special people that were lost before him. Gerry is predeceased by this father and half- brother James Leftwich.
Surviving are his mother Esther Leftwich; sister Sandy Huggins both of Lothian; brother Eugene Leftwich and his wife Pamella of Churchton; half-sisters Peggy Kaplan of Silver Spring; and Patricia Leftwich of North Carolina; daughter Heather Coleman and her husband Wayne of Fairfax, VA and son Gere L. Beason of Nashville, TN. grandchildren Ryan, Corey and Mackenzie Coleman and also survived by Hillary Wines, Emily Tippett and “Little” Michael Tippett and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Gerry was a great guy! Loved hanging out with him, playing darts and listening to his music. His laugh was notable and contagious. Although I moved away a few years ago, I’m glad I was able to see him again before his sickness. He was one of a kind and will be missed by many! Peace my friend
Rest In Peace uncle Gerry. I’m still at a loss for words but at least I know you are no longer suffering. It was always fun being around you weather it be at darts or just hanging around with you at your house. You were always so outgoing, loyal, caring and always hospitable and welcoming. From the time I met you when I was 12 you always made me feel like your nephew and a part of your family, and for that and the times I got to spend time with you I am forever grateful. And to all of Uncle Gerrys friends, family members and loved ones, my thoughts ,condolences, love, and prayers are with you all. Fly high Uncle Gerry, I’ll keep you in my heart forever until I see you again
To our Dear Sister in Christ, Peggy Kaplan and her family, we send Prayers of Comfort.
Hang on to your beautiful memories of your Brother Gerald,..know Joy will cometh in the morning. And your memories laughs and great times you shared, will bring comfort in the hardest of times. Know, we are keeping all of your family in our prayers during this time.

Peggy. Sorry to hear of your brother’s passing. I did not know your brother but based on how highly everyone has spoken of him, and being related to you, I know he was a great guy. Sorry for your loss. We are with you and your family in prayer.

Heartfelt Prayers for Gerry’s Soul, his Family, especially Sister Sandy & Mom Esther from Sister Peggy. Memories & real stories will forever be shared of Life & Times with Gerry. Certainly, he will be missed, but never really gone to many.
May his Memories Hug the Hearts of All those who Loved him.😔
Peggy you are my sister by heart which made Gerry my brother. His smile could light up a room. He had that special twinkle in his eyes. My heart goes out to you and the family especially Ester and Sandy. I understand thier pain. Earth has no sorrow that Haven cannot heal. My prayers are for God’s comfort at this time and the future.
