George Washington Sullivan Jr., lovingly known by many as “Sully” aged 75, of Friendship, MD, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Born on November 18, 1950, in Takoma Park, MD, George was the cherished son of Inez Althea and George Sullivan Sr. He grew up with a deep sense of integrity and a strong work ethic that shaped every part of his life.
George married Debbie on August 30, 1968 and together they built a life filled with love, laughter and adventure. He was a devoted and loving father to George, Scotty and Wade. He was a pillar of strength for his family, but his grandchildren found the softest part of his heart. In his role as Granddad, his quiet sternness turned into pure tenderness. His family will forever remember his strength, kindness, wise advice and unwavering support.
Throughout his life, George worked in the construction field. In 1987, he started Sully & Sons Inc, a family excavation company. A true self-made man who could build, fix or solve nearly everything he set his mind to. He was proud to share his knowledge with his sons over the years, ensuring his knowledge, work ethic and resourcefulness lives on through them. Outside of work, he enjoyed going to auctions, collecting coins and antiques, traveling with friends, maintaining his classic cars, watching Redskins football and spending time at his vacation homes with his family.
George is survived by his beloved wife, Deborah Kaye Sullivan; their three sons, George Washington Sullivan III (Karen), Perry Scott Sullivan (Michele), and Timothy Wade Sullivan (April); grandchildren Michael (Adriana), Kyle (Krista), Adam (Karissa), Allison, Autumn, and Tinsley Sullivan; numerous nieces, nephews, and his extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandson Matthew T. Sullivan; his sister Shirley Bonifant, and his parents Inez and George Sullivan Sr.
Sully leaves behind a lifetime of memories, a family who loved him deeply and countless people whose lives he touched through his kindness, humor, generosity and willingness to help.

I’m so sorry to hear of the passing of Sully. He was truly such a hard working and special man. I knew him most of my life and will always remember his deep voice and looking at all his antiques as a child. I know his family is feeling his loss so much. God has certainly gained another angel. May he rest in peace.

I am so sorry to hear this. George was my dad’s cousin, Donald Sullivan. He left a lasting impression even though we saw him only a few times. Debbie and George came to see my dad and mom one time here in New Mexico. It was a nice visit. We lost my dad in May and now my mom October 11. I know they are having a wonderful reunion in Heaven. I can only imagine the conversations going on up there. My thoughts and prayers go out to Debbie and the rest of the Sullivan family. 🙏❤️🙏
