George Donald Railey, Sr., 92, of Owings, Maryland, passed away on February 18, 2026, at his home.

He was born in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1933, to Eunice Madison (Oliver) and Clayton Allen Railey.

He grew up in Takoma Park, Maryland. He went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1951 to 1954 as an aircraft mechanic. On May 24, 1952, he married June Elizabeth Railey. George continued working within his specialty as a mechanic until 1959 when he became a truck driver for Preston Trucking Company. He later went back to his love of mechanics and eventually retired from Maryland Department of Park and Planning in 1997. In his free time, he liked playing golf, bowling, and in later years building 3-D puzzles, playing the slots, Naval trivia and history, and calling up his friends and family for a chat.

George is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 74 years, June Elizabeth Railey; his sister Jane Deckert; his daughters, Cynthia Perkins (Russell), Rose Cummings (Glenn), Julia Schildt, Sharon Jones (Russell), and Kelley Morgart (Robert); daughter-in-law Carol Railey; grandchildren Katie Garland, John, Jeff, and Bonnie McKay, Alexandra Perkins, Dustin, and Clifton Kerr, Jeanette Raney, Christopher Jones, Sarah Butler, and Tori Morgart; 25 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, George Donald Railey, Jr., his parents, Clayton and Eunice Railey; his brother Clayton Railey, and sister Eunice Macuch.
