Francis Charles Minni
September 18, 1941 – June 11, 2019
It is with great sadness that the family of Francis C. Minni announces his passing after a long battle with cancer on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at the age of 77 years. Frank will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 54 years Jeanne and his children Frank (Diane), Vince (Becky), and Miki (Chris). Frank will also be fondly remembered by his five grandchildren Josie, Georgia, Russell, Brady, and Micaela.
Born and raised in Washington, DC and Wheaton, Maryland, Frank attended St. Francis Xavier Catholic School and Gonzaga College High School in Washington, DC. He then attended St. Vincent College in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, earning his undergraduate degree in sociology, and continued his studies at Bowie State College, earning his master’s degree in education.
Frank was a beloved teacher and principal in the Prince George’s County School System. Upon his retirement, he cherished spending time with family and friends, painting, reading, writing poetry, fishing, golf, and relaxing at his South Bethany residence. Frank’s passion for both teaching and learning never faded. He continued to follow his curiosity wherever it led him, often striking up conversations with anyone he met. Whether he was walking the beach or at his favorite Irish bar, Smitty McGee’s, he was the consummate storyteller and enjoyed engaging family and friends in both the written and spoken word. Nature, people, and poetry inspired him, and he looked forward to reciting a new poem he had heard or one he had crafted himself. Frank enjoyed every minute of his life to the fullest, and his willingness to share with others that love of life will never be forgotten.

Jeanne, Frank, Vince, and Miki, Mark and I are so, so sorry to hear about Frank. He was one of our favorite people in Upper Marlboro and any where else. He was a very special person and we are proud to call him a friend. You can see how great you and Frank were in those wonderful kids you raised. I know they aren’t kids any more but we still think of them that way. Being in Ohio we don’t get to see you very often but we have the picture of the beach group in the living room. We think of you often. Thanks for your friendship. Libby and Mark
To the Minni Family,
My deepest sympathies for your loss. Although time has separated us, I have great memories of Mr. Minni accompanying Josie and LeAnn on school fields and seeing him at school activities. I could see what a wonderful man he was just in that brief time. You will all be in my thoughts and prayers.

Jeanne,
Frank was the President of the Rehoboth Beach Writer’s Guild only because we didn’t have the title “Mayor” to give him. The thing I most admired about him was his genuine love for life, for others, and for the moment. He was always up to date in his commitment to life. Maureen and I will both miss him greatly.
To the Minni Family,
I was so happy to work for Mr. Minni at Bladensburg Elementary School. It was my first job in Maryland and I was very unsure of myself. Mr. Minni was very supportive and encouraged me to take on leadership positions in the school and even allowed me to set up a science lab in the school. This changed the path of my career forever. I appreciated his leadership, his kindness and his approachability. I will never forget him. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
So very sad to hear of Frank’s passing. He was our summer neighbor in South Bethany. When he learned that we loved cucumbers we would quite often find one or two on our door step. We loved hearing his stories and hearing about his writing group, etc. Frank, we miss you already!

Mr. Minni came up in my memories tonight for some reason, and I am saddened to have found this obituary. I was a student at Bladensburg Elementary back in the 1980s, and Mr. Minni was my principal. He was such a kind, thoughtful and warm presence at the school, and I always felt that I could talk to him. I’m very sorry for his family’s loss, and grateful to have known such a wonderful person.
Mr. Minni was a was my first principal out of college!! He was a wonderful mentor. He loved and knew his Bladensburg community, this was my first teaching experience out of the University of Maryland!! Rest In Peace Frank!! You touched so many children’s lives!!

I am a Gonzaga classmate of Frank’s. Although it’s been years since we last met, I will always remember him as a gregarious, funny and unstoppable person. My condolences and prayers.
