Where Heritage and Life are celebrated.

Frances Wilma Byrd

October 21, 1936- January 19, 2020

On Sunday January 19, 2020, our Heavenly Father dispatched an angel who whispered

“Frances, well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou has been faithful over a few things;

I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the Lord.”

Frances Wilma Byrd was the youngest child of twelve born to Dan and Gray Byrd,

born on October 21, 1936 in Washington, DC.

Frances has one sister Mary M. Bush who currently resides in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania. Frances

is preceded in death by brothers: Thomas, James, Andrew, John, Claude sisters: Charlotte, Eunice,

Bernice, Dorothy and Escola.

Frances resided in Kensington, Maryland most of her childhood and young adult life.

Attending and graduating from Lincoln-Carter High School in Rockville, MD.

Frances held many positions in her early career as secretary, administrative assistant at

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Labs, Food and Drug Administration. Including over 20 years

working for the Federal Government as a procurement specialist and the D.C. Government

as a Procurement Officer.

Upon her retirement, she held several part-time positions to keep herself busy and active.

But none were more satisfying than her part time business as a dog and cat walker, house sitter,

working in her church, volunteering wherever opportunities were presented to serve her Heavenly Father.

Frances has left to cherish her by son Gary D. Byrd, daughter in law Mary T. Byrd,

daughter Victoria M. Selvey, son in law Michael Selvey, grandson Ethan John Byrd, granddaughter Hannah

Rose Byrd. And, of course her 4 grand-dogs. She also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Rest in peace to my favorite patient of all time. You leave a legacy of kindness and grace that serves as a role model for how life should be lived for all of us to emulate. God speed, good friend.
