Frances R. “Fran” Shoemaker, 97, of Hagerstown, MD, formerly of St. Leonard, MD passed away on December 31, 2021 in Roanoke, VA.  Fran was born in January of 1924 in Washington, D.C. to A. Randolph and Elizabeth Rowles.  Fran attended Western High School in Washington, D.C. She married M. Eugene Shoemaker and raised four sons. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and longtime member of Christ Episcopal Church of Port Republic, MD & St. Ann’s Episcopal Church of Hagerstown, MD.  She was predeceased by her parents and her husband.  She is survived by her sons, Gene L. Shoemaker, of St. Leonard, MD; Dan E. Shoemaker, of Idaho; Timothy A. Shoemaker, of Berlin, MD; and Frank R. Shoemaker, of Roanoke, VA.  She is also survived by her 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.  The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday January 12, 2022 at the Rausch Funeral Home from 10am – 12pm.  Funeral services will immediately follow.  Interment will take place at Christ Church Cemetery in Port Republic, MD.
