Emma “Lorraine” King
March 3, 1929 – October 10, 2022
Emma “Lorraine” King, 93 passed away peacefully on October 10, 2022 at home in Prince Frederick, Maryland with her family by her side.
Lorraine is preceded in death by her parents John and Amy Pitcher; husband Kenneth King, Jr; siblings: Eva Bafford; Gloria Shields; Alan Pitcher; Margarite Hardesty; Vivian Pitcher; Myrtle Williams and Nelson Pitcher.
Lorraine started her working career in her parent’s grocery store in Broomes Island and later worked at the M&M Shipyard during the war. She worked at various restaurant and retail positions prior to the job with Calvert County Government. She enjoyed working and being around people and finally retired from the County in 2004 at the age of 75.
Lorraine enjoyed dancing, playing cards and board games. She loved putting her artistic talent to work by making floral arrangements for family and friends. But the most important of all to Lorraine was family. Lorraine’s home was the primary focal point of all holiday gatherings and much more. She especially cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Lorraine loved going to their baseball, basketball, soccer and volley ball games and was upset if she missed one. She took great pride in watching them grow along with each major milestone achieved. Lorraine will be deeply missed by her family.
Lorraine is survived by her children: Jacqueline D. McCormick, Jerry N. King, Jo Ann King, and Janet F. Bowles; her grandchildren: Nicholas Bowles and his wife Ashley, Kenneth King, Vincent Bowles and his wife Melinda, and Maria Bowles and her fiancé Keegan Donnelly; great grandchildren: MaKenzie Bowles, Hunter Bowles, Hudson Bowles, Grace Bowles; sisters: Joan Reid and Ethel Buck and her husband Louis.

Lorraine had been a friend ever since I was a young boy. I remember Lorraine and Ruby Parrott being the two main servers at The Calvert Room for years. What a beautiful loving soul. Yes her smile was the smile of all smiles! Jesus has another Angel…
