Elwood Junior Keplinger
August 6, 1940 – January 13, 2020
Elwood Junior Keplinger, 79, of Dunkirk, MD passed away January 13, 2020 at his residence. He was born August 6, 1940 in Bainbridge, Ohio to Joseph and Myrtle (Mossbarger) Keplinger. Elwood joined the United States Navy July 28, 1961 and served on the USS Cambria before being discharged May 28, 1964. Al, as he was known by his friends, loved camping trips, playing cards, working around the house, the Redskins, and serving the community with the Knights of Columbus. He always made time for his family and always put others first. His children are proud to be a reflection of the people he expected them to be.
Al was preceded in death by his five siblings Jim, Charlie, Grace, Vivian and Anna Mae and his son Anthony Joseph Keplinger.
Surviving are his wife Wanda May Thompson Keplinger; five children Theresa Law and her husband Bill of York, PA, Lynn Rutch and her husband Dave of Whiteford, MD, Keith Keplinger and his wife Kim of Winchester, CA, Christopher Keplinger and his wife Elizabeth of Bowie, MD and John Paul Keplinger and his wife Ashley of Bowie, MD; fourteen grandchildren and one great grandson.
The family thanks all of the friends who have stood by us over the years. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Knights of Columbus Council 9302 at St. Mary of the Assumption in Upper Marlboro, MD.
