Early Clinton Cox, Sr.
August 28, 1930 – April 28, 2020
Early Clinton Cox, Sr., 89, of Huntingtown, MD passed away April 28, 2020 at the Calvert County Nursing Center. He was born August 28, 1930 to Albert and Christie (Montgomery) Cox in Floyd County, VA. He joined the US Army in September 1950 and spent a majority of his service in Germany and achieved the rank of Mess Sergeant before being honorably discharged in September 1953. He met the love of his life, Billie Joyce Myers, in 1954. They were married on December 24, 1954 and moved to St. Leonard, Maryland. Once in Maryland, Clinton started his own successful logging company which he operated in Calvert County for almost 40 years. Clinton became a charter member of the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department in 1972, and upon his death was the oldest living charter member. He loved to tell to stories of living and working on a farm as a child and young man. He loved to work on his logging and farm equipment and offer advice and driving directions to anyone who needed it. His favorite thing to talk about was his children and grandchildren and what all of them had accomplished and will accomplish in the future. More than anything, he loved Billie and was heartbroken upon her death in February 2012.
Clinton and Billie had six children: Clinton Cox, Jr (Millie) of Huntingtown, Patty White (Steve) of Southport, NC, Sandy Sams (Joseph) of Prince Frederick, Karen Dickersheid (Bob) of Lititz, PA, Terry Cox (Susan) of Prince Frederick, and Dawn Cox of Radford, VA. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren, and a brother Kelly Cox of Pisgah, MD. He was preceded in death by a sister Myrtle Phillips, and brothers Elmer, Warren, Charlie, Archie, and Leslie Cox
A Memorial Service for Mr. Cox will take place at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department.

To the families,
Our love and prayers are with you all. We were neighbors and good friends for many, many years. I remember babysitting on a few occasions when he and Billie went out. All of you were a delight to watch, raised by two wonderful parents. We will always cherish his friendship, advice and dedicated service with the HVFD Co. 6. May God truly bless the life & memory of Clinton Cox.
So sorry for your loss. I thought a lot of both Clinton and Billie. Always enjoyed then they loaded up the station wagon with all of their kids and visited every summer. Have a lot of great memories. You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Kathy Young (Susie)
