Douglas Neal “Doug” Baldwin, 85, of Sunset Beach, NC and formerly of Basye, VA, passed away on March 9, 2024 in Lusby, MD. Born January 3, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late Fletcher and Mona Baldwin.

Doug graduated from Norfolk Catholic High School and Old Dominion University.  He served in the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army from 1961 until 1967.  Doug was a teacher for the Department of Defense and Dematha Catholic High School. He was on a constant search for knowledge and he enjoyed writing, travel, food, and Formula 1.

Doug is survived by his wife, Paula D. Baldwin whom he married on August 2, 1980 in Bloxom, VA; his children, John Baldwin (Donna) of Raleigh, NC, Laura Baldwin of Lusby, MD and Marcus Baldwin of Harrisonburg, VA; his step-children, Ron Cancelose (Terri) of Rockville, MD, Rick Cancelose (Emily) of Centerville, VA and Rock Cancelose of Culpeper, VA; eight grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and his sister, Lynne Martin of Atlanta, GA.  He was preceded in death by his brother, Fletcher Baldwin.
