Doris Joan Johnson
July 10, 1919 – December 15, 2020
On Tuesday, December 15, Doris J. Johnson (nee Turnbull) went to be with the Lord Jesus and Blessed Mother Mary while she was at home with her family in Prince Frederick, Md. Doris was born July 10, 1919 in Atlantic City, N.J. where she lived until she married hometown love Ralph Johnson in 1948. They moved to Washington, D.C. and then Maryland to begin their life together and raise three children. Doris had a very lively personality and joined many clubs throughout her life in New Carrollton, Md., making and keeping many lifelong friends. She loved being with people, was talented with crafts, and made a beautiful, loving and warm home for her family to grow in.
Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ralph in 1990, son Steven, parents Thomas and Kathleen Turnbull, brother Thomas Turnbull II, and sisters Kathleen Mogan and Elnor Best.
Left to mourn her are her children, Donna (Kurt) Nelson, of Prince Frederick, Robert (Betty) Johnson, of Huntingtown, and Jeanine (Ronald) Howard, of Locust Grove, Va. She also leaves behind grandchildren Jessica (Steven) DeBolt, of Chesapeake Beach, Megan Runnels of Plano, Tx., Timothy Johnson of Huntingtown, Kristen (Ronald) Williams of Prince Frederick and Lee (Kingsley) VanPelt of Tallahassee, Fla., her seven great-grandchildren, Cayde, Conrad, Tracy, RJ, Chance, Cassidy and Dylan, 5 great-great grandchildren and special nieces Deanie, Kate, Eileen, Susie, Ann and Ronda and their families.
Interment will be private at Cheltenham Veteran’s Cemetery in Cheltenham, Md. due to Covid precautions. A memorial and celebration of Doris’ life will take place in July 2021. The family suggests giving to the charity of your choice in lieu of flowers.

As I read your description of your Mom I noticed every personality trait she had is what she passed on to her daughter, Jeanine. I only met Doris one time & remember her having a zest for life. What a happy & wonderful life she lived!!!! You can’t ask for more than that. Heaven is happier & waiting for all she knew & loved.

Doris was a precious jewel of a Mother and Friend. A visit with her was a treasure!
