It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Marie DeBolt on May 5, 2025, at the age of 67, after a brief battle with diabetes and a subsequent heart attack. Donna was born on March 11, 1958 at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC to Agnes Mae Wooten and Amos Monroe Wooten.  She was the youngest of five children.   Donna moved with her family to Calvert County as a child, were she later met her loving and devoted husband in 1985.  They resided there together until her passing.   Donna truly knew that it was more blessed to give than to receive. Donna was a caring, selfless, and giving person.  She was always thinking about her loved ones and invariably put others before herself.   Donna was a loving daughter, daughter-in-law, mother,  and cherished wife.  She was a beautiful soul who would help anyone in need. She was fiercely loyal, strong, and independent.  She would move Heaven and Earth for those she loved.  She had such a strong sense of right and wrong, and lived her life based on those beliefs.  Her charity wasn’t only limited to family and loved ones.   Whether it was her dedication to providing multiple donations to Toys for Tots every year, or donations to local charities,  Donna was determined to help others in need. She never lost sight of the knowledge that there are times in life when we all need a helping hand.

She loved flowers, gardening, decorating, and French and Italian cooking. She loved spending time working in her garden, working to perfect her recipes, decorating, and spending time with her beloved Persians, Noel, Cherie, and Beetlejuice.

Donna was an avid music lover.   She would quickly tell you that Smoke on the Water was overrated, and that Hush was the best song Deep Purple ever did.  She would also adamantly let you know that Rocks was the best Aerosmith album, and that Sticky Fingers was the best by the Rolling Stones.   Whatever Donna was doing, it was a safe bet that she would have music in the background.

Donna loved the snow and always joked that was fitting since she was born during a snowstorm.

She is survived by her husband Ricky DeBolt (married 38 years); her daughters, Jessica Leigh Kegel and Tiffany Lynn Shipe; her son-in-law Benjamin Kegel.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Agnes Mae Wooten and Amos Monroe Wooten, her sister, Patricia Ann Wooten, and her brother, Tom Wooten.

Although Donna is gone, she will live in our hearts forever.  Her departure comes as a great shock and a deep wound, and it is gravely felt by her entire family and countless others who loved her deeply.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Diabetes Association in Donna’s name.
