Left to cherish his memory are wife Gail O’Dell and their four children, Jaime Worley (JR), Jesse O’Dell (Amanda), Michael O’Dell (Asha) and Keith O’Dell (Renee). father-in-law, Pete Fisher & mothers-in-law , Lucretia Fisher and Faye Fowler. His brother-in-law, Jeff Fowler (Jenn) and sisters-in-law, Connie Schmier & Debbie Kelly (Joe). Numerous aunts/uncles, cousins, nieces/nephews, and countless friends. Most importantly his 12 grandchildren Teaira, Alana, Kaleb, Jailyn, Kaiden, Landon, Gracyn, Harmony, Miles, Olivia, Demi, and Sophie.
Donnie was born May 11, 1964, to Boots and Dianne O’Dell in Prince Frederick, MD, where he grew up.
Donnie graduated from Calvert High School in 1982. Shortly after the birth of their first child he and Gail moved to Florida, where they began their life and continued to grow their family. Donnie unknowingly met the love of his life in kindergarten and they found each other again in high school. Donnie asked Gail to be his on May 26, 1980, and they were married on May 24, 1986. Their love story of 42 years is one of a kind.
Donnie has always been a hard worker. Providing for his family was a priority and his work ethics were very important to him and carried over into his children. In Florida, he started driving dump trucks with Village Land Clearing & Fill. He drove trucks for 12 years and then decided to go into business for himself. He was known as “The Tree Tender”. He could take care of all of your landscaping needs, no job too small or tree too tall.
In 1998, Donnie and Gail moved their family back to Calvert County where Donnie began working alongside his cousin, Bill Buckler with Action, as an exterminator. Ironically, Donnie worked with Action back when he was 15 years old. Donnie developed a passion for killing bugs and was known around here as the “Bugman”. He once again went into business for himself, and started “Call Donnie the Exterminator”. He would take care of all your bug needs, and tell you, “Humans are extra!”
Donnie enjoyed NASCAR, riding his Harley and having a cold one with friends and family.
He was lovingly known as “Uncle D” by his favorite nieces and nephews.
Donnie’s greatest accomplishments in life were his four children and his most prized possessions were his 12 grandchildren. Donnie suffered some life changing health issues in 2019. He spent his last few years with us being the best damn Poppy he could be!

Gayle and Family, we are so very sad with the news of Donnie’s passing. So hard to find the right words to offer you comfort. God and Angels do exist, Donnie had both with him during those terrible months of illness in 2019 and through out these past three years. He fought so hard to stay with his family and all those grand babies.
He will be missed by so many. “I hope he will have ice cream waiting for him in Heaven”. Gayle, hugs and love. You are in out thoughts and prayers.
Dearest Gail and family.
My heart aches for you because I know how you feel Gabi g having lost my beloved 4 months ago.
Rest assured dear Gail, that you don’t have to walk alone…the LORD is always at your side.
I love you!
My sympathy to my friend Gail. I am at a loss for words to soothe your grief, so I will share a wonderful memory of Donnie. When we were kids we would go to a roller skating rink in Waldorf. We would travel by a bus driven by Mrs. Plater. On the return trip the bus would drop us off at several locations. One of the locations was at the corner of Rt231/Adelina Rd. where Donnie lived. Donnie had a late 60’s green Chevy parked at the corner. We did some joy riding in that Chevy! Specifically on the dirt road behind the WMJS radio station. Ricky Bobby had nothing on Donnie. I smile every time I think about that moment. I hope this helped a little bit. God Bless you and your family.
Gail – I don’t have words to tell you how sorry I was to hear of Donnie’s passing. I knew when he didn’t return my call there was something wrong. My sympathy to the entire family and if I can do anything to help please reach out. Connie Cosgrove
