David John and Julia Ann Voigt passed away peacefully and together on March 25, 2025, at VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, after sharing twenty-five years of loving marriage.
Julia was born on July 18, 1960, at Travis Air Force Base in California, and David on October 1, 1960, at Malcolm Grow Medical Center on Andrews Air Force Base in Maryland. Both were raised in Clinton, Maryland, where they attended Surrattsville High School and dated during their time there. Julia graduated from Surrattsville, and David graduated from Crossland High School. David went on to serve in the United States Air Force, Airman First Class, stationed in Little Rock Arkansas. Though life took them on separate paths for a time, fate brought them back together, and they were married on February 26, 2000.
They built a life together in Clinton. David worked as a talented diesel and auto mechanic, and Julia as a pharmacy clerk, and at the family-run Miller Farm Country Store. David was passionate about restoring and building cars, while Julia found joy in gardening, craft fairs, and doting on her beloved dogs. Together, they loved boating and cherished time spent with family and friends, especially their grandchildren, creating memories filled with warmth and laughter.
Julia and David are survived by their daughter, Tammy Persell of Lothian; their grandsons, Joshua, Jason, and Brian; and by Gregory Atkins and his wife Heather of Chesapeake Beach; and their god-daughters, Tawny, Tamera, and Cassie.
David is also survived by his siblings: Judy Tayman and her husband George, Rocky Voigt and his wife Karen, Penny Woods (wife of the late Sean Arthur), and Billy Voigt and his wife Charlotte. He was preceded in death by his parents, Shirley June (Wentworth) and Roland Francis Voigt, Sr.
Julia is survived by her siblings Lisa Southerland and her husband Tommy, Craig Fugate and his wife Trish, and her stepmother, Betty Fugate. She was preceded in death by her parents, Raymond and Jean Fugate, and her sister, Rebecca Alexander.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 7, 2025 from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mt. Harmony Lane, Owings, MD, followed by a memorial service at 11:00 A.M.
