A Tribute to Mr. David Knicley:
I have known Mr. David, Mrs. Clair Knicley and their family for almost 4 years as an accompanying carer for David.
Although I came to know the family through a paid job, I feel very privileged to have become part of the family because I cared for David as if he were my own biological family.
We got to know and understand each other with every passing day. David at the beginning used to call me, ‘Hi’, then ‘small girl’. He sometimes called me ‘Sweetie’ then it was ‘hey boy’ – whenever I came to work wearing a baseball hat. David went on to call me ‘Stil’ , the closet to my name Stella. David had a way in which he responded to my calls. If I have a face cap on and I call him, he will always answer, ‘Yes Sir’ but without the face cap, when called he would answer, ‘Yes mom’. He then finally, started to call me ‘mom’. Initially, I wondered why he would call me ‘mom’ but later believe it was how he perceived the care I gave to him.
When I asked David what his name was, he will say, My name is David Knicley, nice to everyone.
I observed during my day-to-day spending time with him, I realised that he was a very hardworking man. David would spend a long time constructing one thing or the other. I thank him for all the inventions that he must have been involved with.
David has a very lovely family, Mrs. Clair Knicley, you have been very kind to me, offering me a residence within your family home – whom I understand was built by David. I pray that the Lord grant you, your children and grandchildren the fortitude to bear your loss.
You should find joy in the lovely and wonderful memories that you made with David.
I pray that the soul of David and the souls of all the faithful departed through the mercy of God rest in peace. Amen.
David, I will miss you. Sleep in the Lord.

Claire and family, I am so sorry for your loss.
I have such fond memories of David and you being so wonderful to Rob and JR when they were growing up and popping up at your house to play with Adam. Time is such a thief and those years seem so far away but always remembered with love.
