David Earle Wayson, 82, of Owings passed away January 28, 2025. He was born December 10, 1942 in Annapolis to Roland Earle and Kathryn (Phibbons) Wayson. Dave grew up on Jewell Road in Dunkirk. He also served on several committees in Anne Arundel County including the Anne Arundel County Board of Library Trustees and the Soil Conservation Board. Dave loved being on the farm and gardening. Carol, Donna (Andy) Craig (Denny) Cassie, Devon, Caroline, Garrett, and Preston,
Please accept my deepest condolences.

Carol, My heartfelt condolences to you and the entire family. Dave was so dedicated and loved his family and friends so much. He was just the nicest person that I knew. We were all lucky to have known him. He enriched all of our lives and will really be missed.
Dear Wayson Family,
I am so sorry for your loss. Dave was a great community leader and wonderful State Farm Agent. I had the privilege of working near, around and with Dave for over twenty five years. When I was a brand new State Farm Agent he was there supporting me. He even “lent” me team members when mine all quit and I was facing a crunch time. Later, through various levels of management Dave always welcomed me and was a great mentor with his claims expertise. Dave is one of a very few agents in Southern Maryland…I think there were three…who opened this new market for State Farm and made us number one. All who serve in Southern Maryland should reflect on the good neighbor service he and his team gave which built our reputation and market. Carol, Donna, Craig…I am sending hugs your way. I know your loss is great. I hope you take comfort in knowing how respected and loved he was by his many State Farm customers and Associates.
May you RIP Dave. Always had a big smile and subtle message of encouragement to make your day better. Worked with Dave for 30 years as an agent in the Southern Maryland Market and he was the one who reached out to welcome me to the team of State Farm agents. Will miss knowing he was in Dunkirk with his tremendous staff of professionals doing what he has done for 50 years. We are all better knowing that Dave was in our lives.
I am deeply saddened by the loss of Dave. He will be missed by all who knew him, but he will never be forgotten. It was truly an honor and privilege to know him. Dave was not only a mentor but also a great friend for many years. My sincere condolences go out to Carol and the entire family during this difficult time. In our prayers always.
It saddens me to be writing these words in the memory of my friend, neighbor, and fellow State Farm agent Dave Wayson. I’ve known Dave for as long as I’ve been associated with State Farm as a new agent in training schools together, when I entered Leadership he was in my management territory, and as a fellow agent in Calvert County. That’s been too many years to realize now that Dave is no longer with us. The things I remember most about Dave was that he was a very approachable, easy to talk to, a good listener, not afraid to offer advice, always available when you needed him, a humble man, and from my view point supportive in all the different roles I’ve had with State Farm. Mostly though, if you know Dave, his family roots go deep in Southern Maryland. He was devoted and loyal to his family, friends, Country, community, Company, and customers. I recall several years ago he ran for Calvert County commissioner and lost. When I asked him about the results he said, “Wayne, I got beat pretty bad, it was a humbling experience.” But that was Dave, he accepted and embraced what life had to offer, didn’t complain, never said a bad word about anyone, and stayed positive. We could all learn that from Dave, and practice it, especially in these times. One of the things Dave and I had in common was carpentry. You can see his woodcraft skills every time you walk into his office. Dave Wayson was one of the “good ones” and will be missed by many. Dave may God Be with You and may you Rest in Peace. So appreciative of all the support you have given me over the years, WAYNE Shoemaker, fellow State Farm Agent and friend.
