On September 26, 2026, we said goodbye to our beloved Daniel Anthony Key, 41, of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland. Though his time with us was far too short, the love, laughter, and memories he gave us will remain in our hearts forever.
He was born January 17, 1985, in Silver Spring to John Daniel, Jr. and Connie Ann (Sefcik) Key. Daniel grew up in Chesapeake Beach and graduated from Northern High School in 2003. He then attended the University of Maryland University College, where he obtained a Bachelor’s of Science degree. Daniel dedicated more than 20 years to Sneade’s Hardware Store, where his hard work and dedication allowed him to grow into the role of Warehouse Logistics Manager. He also contributed over 20 years to working part-time as event staff for sporting events at the University of Maryland. Daniel enjoyed playing cornhole, golf, and fantasy football. He cherished the time he spent with his friends, whether they were sharing laughs, watching football, or cheering on his favorite team, the San Francisco 49ers. His humor, competitive spirit, and ability to make those around him laugh created countless memories that will be treasured by all who knew and loved him.
Daniel is survived by his parents John and Connie Key, sister Samantha Campbell and husband Scott, and brother Brian Key. Also surviving are his grandmother Pat Key, as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by grandparents John Key, Sr., Doris Jane Meredith and Anthony and Theresa Sefcik.
Although our hearts are broken by Daniel’s passing, we find comfort in knowing that he is now in God’s loving arms, free from pain and at peace. We hold close to the promise that death is not the end, but a passage into eternal life. May God welcome Daniel home and give comfort and strength to all who loved him until the day we are reunited again. Daniel will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his family, friends, and all those whose lives he touched.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Daniel’s memory to a charity of your choice.

Rest in Peace Danny. You ran a great crew and were well respected by all in the community. The lumberyard was always truly family and will feel like a piece is missing. Even after leaving, I still liked to stop in and bs with everyone. The Key family and all members of the Sneade’s family will be in my prayers.

October 2 – Obituary: Daniel Anthony Key
I met with Daniel briefly the day before his passing. The memory that will always remain with me is how much he is loved. His hospital room was filled with family & friends & when I spoke with him & held his hand it was obvious he was at peace. What a way to have your spirit leave this earth & soar to the heavens! I pray that everyone who knew him will be blessed & receive peace knowing he is in peace.
