Corben M. Thompson

Corben M. Thompson, 95, of Huntingtown passed away January 13, 2025, at his home. He was born August 8, 1929, in Piney Grove, MD to Elwood Leroy and Mildred Genivive (Unsworth) Thompson. Corben grew up in Capitol Heights, MD, one of eight boys. He joined the United States Air Force on December 27, 1950, and was honorably discharged on December 15, 1954, after serving in the Korean War. Corben married Barbara McPherson in 1955, and they lived in Suitland for many years before moving to Huntingtown in 1994. Following his time in the Air Force, Corben continued his love of aircraft and machinery and went on to work as a machinist for United Airlines, the Federal Government, the Naval Research Lab, and the Department of Commerce. He was a member of Huntingtown United Methodist Church. Corben was a great man, with a great sense of humor. His family was everything to him and he loved spending time with his grandchildren. He enjoyed tinkering, fixing things, birds, animals, his dogs, listening to music, fishing, and hunting. He was also a fan of the Washington Redskins and Nationals.
Corben is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years Barbara Thompson, children Karlyn Davis and her husband Jerry, Roy Thompson and his wife Patricia, Laura Hoffmann, Jennifer Parker and her husband Clayton, and Kristi Thrailkill and her husband Dan, grandchildren William and Benjamin Parker, Jessica and Jacob Davis, Donald Thompson and his wife Anna, Gordon Thompson and his wife Haley, and Ethan and Charlotte Thrailkill, and great-grandchildren Jayden, Jordi, and Colin. He was preceded in death by his granddaughter Amanda Davis.
