I grew up with Chet in SE Washington, Anacostia. I would run into him on occasion while working at Pepco. We both live in Calvert County MD, not far from each other, and I would run into him at the Giant, barber and etc. and talk about old friends from the neighborhood and Pepco.
RIP my friend.

We are saddened to learn of Chester’s passing. He and Ginger have been great neighbors to us. We could always count on a smile and wave when you saw Chester outside working in his yard. He will be missed. Prayers for his family and friends.
And Now We Say Goodbye
Great sadness fills our hearts today
as pipes and drums, in slow march play.
A comrade’s fallen by the way,
And now we say goodbye.
This hero to the very end
Was more than just a casual friend,
Who would a stranger’s life defend,
And now we say goodbye
But we shall cherish, all our days,
The character this life portrayed
With sacrifice so freely made,
And now we say goodbye.
The hand salute, o’er Stars and Stripes,
And distant skirl of highland pipes,
Give last farewell with hero’s rights,
And now we say goodbye.
While here on Earth, you gave your best.
Now in the Master’s arms you rest.
T’is by your memory we are blessed.
And now we say goodbye.

I can’t say enough of the great friendship we had for 60 plus years. Laughing and having a blast at every turn we went through. We are not only great friends but great brothers to the end.
You would always be there in a pinch. From S.E. days to the end. You were a top notch friend and you will be missed.
I know you’re in a great place now. We’ll all be up there and continue a long and lasting S.E. celebration. GOD bless you my brother, you will be missed.
Chet was the real deal, a genuine Good Guy. We worked on a lot of Projects together at PEPco and he made it so much more bearable during those times. His quick wit and ready smile were helpful during those tedious tasks. He will be missed by a great many people…God Speed Brother.
We grew up in the SE DC area and played a lot of ball at Orr School and the Flats.
When he suggested Pepco when I was looking for a job I applied at 1900 Penn Ave. They told me no spots open. So when he asked me he went to the Supt of the Dept and told him. He said “if he is willing to work we can use him” and I got hired.
Chet was helpful in me getting hired at Pepco since I started one year in CM, 9 years in Test and 33 years at the Control Ctr.
I was so looking forward to taking him to dinner and brewskis to thank him.
Missed that chance. Sorry Chetty

I first met Chetty at Orr Elementary school in SE DC .
He worked with my husband Colin Lanham at Pepco.
So sorry for your loss.
We always enjoyed Chetty’s company. Him and Colin would always make us laugh.
😌🙏💙
Rest Easy Mr. Chet.
You Truly Are One Of A Kind.
You Will Be Missed, But I Know You Will Continue To Shine Your Love Down On So Many.
You Were A Great Friend & Mentor. 🙏💙🙏
