Charles “Charlie” Curtis Young, 87, of Prince Frederick (formerly of St. Leonard and New Carrollton) Maryland, passed away Thursday November 10, 2022, at Solomons Nursing Home, Solomons, Maryland.

Born July 9, 1935, in the US capitol of Washington D.C., to John Curtis and Alice (Malone) Young. Brother to Patricia Hudson. Charlie married Nola Theresa Oriani on July 14, 1956.  With his wife, Nola for 66 years, he raised three sons.  He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Young.

Charlie is survived by his wife Nola; two sons: Spencer Young (husband of Donna) of Prince Frederick; Shannon Young (husband of Mary Jo) of Shady Side; and has one daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Young (widow of Michael) of Pasadena. Charlie has six grandchildren: Matthew and Shawn Young; Stacey Ritter; and Shane, Erin, and Darren Young. He has three great-grandchildren: Alexa, Riley, and Camryn Ritter.

Before he retired, he was employed as a truck driver/salesman for several companies throughout the D.C. area.  He was also involved heavily with the New Carrollton Boys and Girls Club as well as coached several girls’ softball and basketball teams throughout the years. Not only known for his coaching but too a mentor, father figure, and friend to many during this time.

Charlie was a friend to many and was very well liked by all who knew him. He was the life of the party and commanded the attention of any room he entered. He was loved by everyone who knew him. He was a devoted family man, an amazing father, grandfather, and great grandfather.  He has touched the lives of so many throughout the years, that he’ll be unfathomably missed by all who knew him.

When Charlie made friends, you were friends for life, and you were family. Throughout the years, he enjoyed many vacations with his family and friends. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed the simple life of camping, fishing, and skiing.  He also enjoyed attending NASCAR races. Charlie too was a handyman who helped anyone who asked.

Charlie lived life, loved, and laughed to the fullest. He had a big personality and would be missed by many.

Charlie also was a member of the St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Prince Frederick and was highly appreciated amongst the religious community.

Service will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 105 Vianney Lane, Prince Frederick MD on Friday, November 18, 2022.  The family will receive relatives and friends from 10 – 11 a.m.; Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m.  Interment will be private.
