Charles “Bud” Ficke
March 13, 1946- September 4, 2022

A beacon to his family Charles “Bud” Carl Ficke Jr. passed away on September 4, 2022. He was born to Helen and Charles Ficke of Baltimore, MD on March 13, 1946. Bud was a Marine Corp Veteran serving in 1964. He then moved to Calvert County Maryland to begin his career at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant in the Radiation Protection unit. After 27 years, he retired, moving to Calabash, North Carolina to live out his remaining years.
He married the love of his life, Barbara Senft on November 26, 1966. They had 2 children Brian and Brandy. He is preceded by death of his wife who passed in 2016, just 9 months prior to their 50th wedding anniversary.
He is survived by Brian Ficke (Amanda), Brandy Gunn (Reggie), Karen Sharpe (Mike), Lori Springer (David), his grandchildren Jason Sharpe (Lauren), Brice Springer, Jenna Ficke, Brooke Springer, Connor Ficke, DJ Carlson, Braylen Reid Hartley Ficke and Great-Grandchildren Elizabeth and Michael.
Bud was a Lifetime Member of St. Leonard Volunteer Fire Department serving many years on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer. He was also a member of St. Leonard Optimist Club and belonged to the American Legion.
Bud loved being outdoors as much as possible, fishing, cooking crabs and grilling at cookouts. Bud was a people person and made a new friend everywhere he went.
Bud was always ready and willing to help his family and friends and will always be remember as a great Dad, a great Paw-Paw and a great friend.
A Memorial Service will be held at St. Leonard Volunteer Firehouse on October 2, 2022 at 12 Noon.

So sorry to hear of Bud’s passing. Always such a nice person. I had to pleasure of working with Bud at
Calvert Cliff’s and then volunteering with him & his family at St. Leonard. Bud was a very dedicated to
his family, & the Fire Department. Bud was also a very dedicated to St. Leonard Optimist. Thank you Bud for
always being a gentlemen, kindness and be so dedicated. His children, grandchildren are carrying on his volunteer
work with the fire department. Bud & Barbara where always together at functions. Now they are together
& smiling down on family & friends. May you all have wonderful memories.
