Catherine Clayton Bourne Grover, 96, passed away on February 27, 2024. Catherine was born to Thomas John Bowen and Edna Kemp Bourne on October 17, 1927, at home in Chaneysville, MD. She attended All Saints Church and Fairview Elementary and grew up working on the farm with her younger sister, Emily, and enjoying cousins on both sides of the family. She then attended Calvert County High School and graduated in the spring of 1944 and went to Secretarial school in Baltimore. She was also employed at McCormick Spice Company and other places and eventually Johns Hopkins Hospital. She married Thomas R. Grover of Lusby whom she met on the bus that traveled from Calvert County to Baltimore on May 14, 1958. She had a son, John Bourne Grover. Catherine learned to fly airplanes, got her pilot’s license and her own single engine plane, and participated in the Powder Puff Derby and Flying Farmers and enjoyed just Flying!

She was predeceased by her parents Thomas and Edna Bourne, her husband Tom, son John, later-in-life friend Lloyd Gifford, and sister Emily Hyde.

A memorial service for Catherine and her sister, Emily, will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2024, 10:30 A.M. at All Saints Parish in Sunderland, MD.
