Carl “Dick” Richard Southerly, 81, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2023 at the INOVA Hospital in Fairfax, VA. He was born September 14, 1941 to the late Alvin and Helen Southerly.  He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Naomi (Evans) Southerly, in Prince Frederick, MD. He left behind one son Craig (Vickie) Southerly of Boonsboro, MD, his granddaughters Samantha Southerly of Boonsboro, MD, Jacqueline Witherow of Huntingtown, MD, and Alice Watkins of Hagerstown, MD, his grandson Gino Ricci of Shady Side, MD.  He also leaves behind five great grandchildren, Bryce Legeer, Sophia Legeer, Kylie Cosgrove, Alan Witherow Jr., and Kathy Watkins.  He also has one sister Polly Tanner of Moorefield, WV. He was preceded in death by his son, James Southerly, and his brother, Thomas Southerly.

Dick served three years in the Army, then employed as an Operating Engineer for 35 years with Local Union 37.  His request was to be cremated and Internment at Olivet Cemetery in Moorefield, WV.
