Burton K. Beyer
July 18, 1943 – October 25, 2024
Burton (Burt) K. Beyer, 81, of Owings, Maryland, passed away on Friday, October 25, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. Known for his skillful hands and vibrant spirit, Burt brought joy, laughter, and craftsmanship to everyone he met.
He was born on July 18, 1943, in Washington, DC, to Alfred John and Nellie Irene Beyer. He was raised in Clinton, Maryland, and grew up with love for adventure, hard work, and the simple joys of life.
Burt was a gifted cabinet maker by trade and later became an elevator mechanic, working for Robert Thompson, Inc., for 30-years and ultimately running his own business, Burton K. Beyer, Inc. for 10-years. Burt took immense pride in his work, building pieces and solving problems with an expert touch. His love for his trade was evident in every detail, and his creations will be cherished by many for years to come.
Beyond his work, Burt was the life of the party. With a love for music that filled every room he entered, he knew how to get a crowd going, whether it was on the dance floor or with a perfectly timed joke. Friends and family could always count on his warm laugh, contagious smile, and infectious energy to brighten any gathering. Never knowing a stranger, Burt touched all those he met.
Burt enjoyed working in his shop; building furniture; working in the yard; helping his neighbors and children; fishing; telling stories; and playing his guitar and singing. He made a lasting impact on many lives and will be greatly missed by all.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 58 years, A. Marvey “Marty” Beyer; children Therese Keokuk (Joby), Chris Beyer (Grace), and Tim Beyer (Tami); grandchildren Samantha Watkins, Noah Beyer, Sophie Beyer, Jacob Beyer, and Emma Beyer; brother Ed Beyer; in-laws Kathy and Dan Steyaert, Therese and Mike Pridemore; and a host of nieces and nephews, who will forever hold dear the memories of his joyful presence and steady, loving support. While we will miss him deeply, we take comfort in knowing he lived fully, loved endlessly, and shared his light with all.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother and stepfather Nellie Irene & Roy Wilson; brothers Henry Beyer and Wayne Templeman; sister-in-law Sue Kuhn; niece Amber Steyaert; and special friend who he considered a brother Earl Cuppett.
Visitation will be held on Monday, November 4, 2024, from 9:00-11:00am with a Funeral Service to follow at 11:00am at Rausch Funeral Home, 8325 Mount Harmony Lane, Owings, Maryland 20736. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Clinton, Maryland.

Many many good memories with my uncle, either having Thanksgiving there every year growing up, to 4th of July crab feast, or just hanging out, going swimming, or running around the big yard, or bugging Uncle Burt in his shop asking him to climb down in his oil changing pit. Uncle Burt was the main reason I wanted to grow up learning how to play the acoustic guitar. I’m still learning, by the way 😁 I will never forget my Uncle Burt, that’s for sure. He’s definitely gonna be missed by a lot of people, especially his brother, my dad Ed Beyer. It broke my heart when my dad said “who am I gonna talk to every night now?” 😔 May you rest in peace, Uncle Burt, and continue to watch over all your family and friends especially your wife, my Aunt Marty. We love you and miss you dearly. Give my mama a big hug up there for me❤️
To a man who loved life. My sister married Tim. You took us in your arms and loved all of Tami’s family. When you spoke to me it was like there was no one else in the room. You treated Isaac as if he was another grandchild. You will live in our hearts. I can hear your voice. All our love. Jen, Isaac, and Amado.
Dear Family
Uncle Burton I will remember your smile and laughter most of all. You had THE BEST life here! You were -and are still- so well loved. I will remember you – always in my heart and mind forever.
The Winding Road
There’s a long, long winding road
That never wearies me.
A road I often travel when
Old friends I wish to see:
That road is called “Sweet Memory”
So old, yet ever new.
And I oft in fancy wander there
To laugh and talk with you.
