Betty Jane Patton
October 24, 1937 – February 8, 2012
Betty Jane Miller-Hamby-Patton, 74, of Huntingtown, MD, formerly of St. Charles City in Charles County, MD, passed away peacefully after a long illness with her loving husband Fred beside her. Betty’s last days were spent residing at Calvert County Nursing Center in Prince Frederick, MD. Betty was born in Washington, D.C., and was preceded in death by her parents Bill & Hazel M. (Cole) Miller; three brothers, Bobby Miller, Fred Miller and Joel Peyton. Betty is survived by her devoted loving husband Fred W. Patton, daughters, Deborah J. Dirosario of Colonial Beach, VA, Donna M. Hamby of Latrobe, PA, and son Steven R. Hamby of Colonial Beach, VA; a brother Lee C. Peyton and wife Pat of Frederick, MD; grandchildren; Jason A. Rader and wife Mollie of Colonial Beach; Joseph A. Rader II and wife Andrea & boys of Fredericksburg, VA, Anna Anderson, Angela Martin and husband Jimmy and Marie Hamby of Culpepper, VA.; and twins Shawn Hamby and Shane Hamby of Latrobe, PA. She is also survived by 5 great-grand children, numerous nieces and nephews, sisters-in-law Donna Miller of Puyallup, WA, Irene, and Joanne. Betty will be missed by her loving long-time sister/friend Pat & Al Wildermann of AZ.
Betty was a member of the St. Charles, MD. Women’s Club in the early 70’s. She will be remembered as a talented hairdresser, and homemaker. Her hobbies in her younger days were bowling, arts & crafts. In her leisure time she loved to knit & crochet neck scarves for her family.
Betty and her husband Fred lived a simple life enjoying strolling flea markets, family cook-outs, and just singing and playing music with friends & family at home. She also had a big heart for cats, dogs and birds. She leaves behind her dog Della & numerous cats.
