Betty Moore-Chaney
October 25, 1932- June 6, 2022

Betty entered the gates of larger life at her home surrounded by her family on June 6, 2022. Betty Anne Tucker was born October 25, 1932 to Emory Tucker and Helen Windsor. She married her high school sweetheart, Beverley “Feet” King Moore on June 18, 1952. They had two daughters, Pamela Ann Townshend and Beverly Kay Cotton. She was a widow for 24 years and then married Kenneth “Pete” Chaney in 2001 and became a widow once again in 2009.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents Emory Tucker and Helen Fister; brothers John and David Tucker; stepsisters Rebecca and Gloria Fister; stepbrother Harvey Fister; her husband of 25 years Beverley “Feet” Moore and husband of 8 years Kenneth “Pete” Chaney. She is survived by her sister Mary “Peggy” Kates (nee Tucker); her two daughters Pamela Townshend and Beverly Kay Cotton (William Cotton); grandchildren Beverly Townshend (Daniel Baldree), Mary Catherine Townshend, Bradley Townshend (Andrea King) and Kayla Cotton; great grandchildren Jacob Grigsby, Ryland and Abbie King, Patrick Townshend and Wendy Baldree as well as many nieces and nephews.
Betty retired as a secretary from the Federal Government, was a member of the choir and the ladies Evening Circle at Trinity Episcopal Church in Upper Marlboro, MD, a member of Brandywine VFD’s Ladies Auxiliary, Girl Scout Leader, Lake of the Woods and Scottsville Lions Clubs as well as a farmer’s wife on the family farm in Upper Marlboro, MD.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Betty’s name may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
