Betty Ann Johnson
August 2, 1932 – May 26, 2024
It is with great sadness to announce that Betty Ann Woodburn Johnson peacefully passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 91. She was born on August 2, 1932, in Solomons, MD to Benjamin (Dick) F. Woodburn and Lola M. (Sewell) Woodburn. She was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years Carl N. Johnson, her beloved daughter Kimberly A. Stone and her brother Edgar Woodburn. She leaves behind her adoring son Michael W. Johnson and his wife Robyn, her son-in-law Walt Stone, two beautiful granddaughters Kelsey A. Stone (husband Alex Bew) and Carly M. Stewart (husband Hunter), and her great- granddaughter Aurora E. Stewart.
Betty was raised in Solomons enjoying life on the water, graduated from Calvert High School, then attended and graduated from Strayer Business College in Baltimore, MD. She and Carl were married in 1953, moved to Pocomoke City, MD, then to Elkton, MD, before finally returning home to Calvert County in 1962 and residing in Hunting Hills Estates, Huntingtown to raise their family. Betty first worked at the Solomons Marine Laboratory, then worked at the Calvert County Board of Education in the personnel department from where she retired, all while being the most loving and caring mother and grandmother a family could have.
After Carl’s death, Betty designed and contracted for a home to be built on her family’s property in Solomons where her dreams were formed as a child and young adult and where she resided until her death.
Betty’s friends, both childhood and recent, meant the world to her. Their visits to her home in her later years were the beacon of light that kept the smile on her face. Betty’s family, her grandchildren, and her great granddaughter provided her with the joy of love that defined her life with us and will be carried in our hearts until we are together again.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 6, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. with a Funeral Service conducted by Pastor Matthew Tate following at 12:00 p.m. at Rausch Funeral Home, Lusby, MD.
