Barbara Mae Tucker
May 21, 1935 – June 14, 2017
EARTH ANGEL, she always put others before herself! A true farmer’s wife for 55 years to beloved John Calvert Tucker, Jr. (Tuck) married on Aug. 22, 1952. Her only true love, Tuck, passed away on Oct. 5, 2007. Barbara has three children, Donald Tucker and wife Theresa, Hazel Tucker, her Caregiver for ten years, and Roy Tucker. Two granddaughters, Victoria and Elizabeth Tucker. Loving sisters Janet Metzger, Carole Foley and husband Jim. Brothers in loving memory, Harold (Sonny) White and Carl White. Mother in loving memory Annie Elizabeth Estler Metzger and father in loving memory, John Alfred Metzger; they moved from Mt. Rainier, MD to North Beach, MD in 1948.
AFTER THE DIAGONSIS of Alzheimer’s Disease in 2007, Barbara remained home on her farm in Friendship, MD and enjoyed an active life, until she peacefully and calmly joined Tuck and other loved ones in heaven surrounded by family and friends. Love and appreciation to her incredible neighbor, Marge Scerbo Lewis, whom assisted with Barbara’s care when help was needed. Enormous thanks and love to Donald, Theresa and Roy Tucker for supporting Hazel for ten years, allowing her to care for Barbara at home! Much love to Carla Jones, Caregiver/Friend, whom could always make Barbara laugh! In the later months of Barbara’s life, God sent Joseph Butler whom helped Hazel, Roy and Donald in Caregiving and building a ramp and numerous other projects around the farm. In April 2017 God also sent Bobby Buckmaster whom helped Hazel, Donald and Roy everyday with farm chores and excellent, gentle and caring support to Barbara’s care. Tremendous love and appreciation to Barbara’s nieces and nephews, Pete Petrasek and wife, Rachel for always lending a helping hand repairing farm equipment and loving support in all matters; Rosie and Vernon Tucker’s delicious food and anything that needed addressing, they were always there for their Aunt Barbara.
BARBARA LOVED helping on the farm, cooking, baking, canning, gardening, reading, Sunday School teaching, playing softball, playing cards, family/ friends gatherings, family vacations, providing Child Care for twelve years, going to farm sales with Tuck, traveling across America with Hazel, supporting friends and family when they lost a loved one, caring for animals on the farm and especially Pierre, her little white dog that went everywhere with her.
