May 8 – Obituary: Barbara Ann Whittington Chipman

I met Barb at work. She was generous, high energy and had a quick wit and retort to everything. She and I shared a love of dolphins and learned that about each other early on. She gifted me with her Dolphin plate when she was about to retire. I have it on a shelf in my home. She was always smiling and we enjoyed bantering back and forth. Barb was a loyal and dedicated soul. She was honest and true and I valued her work frienship. May she rest in peace and be reunited with the love of her life on the other side.

Till we meet again my dear friend. We shared so many times of fun and laughter. Your were more like a sister. For 68 yrs. We always kept in touch. As we got older and medical things kinda slowed us down. But memories never fade. Yiu are loved and will be missed. But I know we will see each other again. Rest in peace. My heart is with your children. May they remember all the wonderful times we all shared together. My kids and yours so many years ago. My love to all. Kathy and Lihu ♥️♥️♥️🕊️🕊️🕊️🕊️

Barb knew the business school like the back of her hand. She was a great sounding board because she knew how to get things done. She was always willing to give friendly advice and lend a helping hand. She helped make our Management & Organization Department the best.  I loved her sense of humor and her often funny commentary on the happenings of the day at work. She will be forever appreciated and missed. May she rest in peace.

I will forever remember how generous, kind and knowledgeable Barb has been. When I arrived to UMD in 2012 she welcomed me, helped me feel at home and was just an incredible person having around, doing everything with grace and humor. Thank you Barb for everything you have been for us at UMD. We miss you. May you rest in peace.

Barb was such a joy to talk to. She was extremely helpful with all my questions and requests as a faculty member as well as department chair. We’ll miss her enormously. May her soul rest in piece.

April 30 – Obituary: Barbara Ann Whittington Chipman

I met Barb when I started at the Smith School at the University of Maryland in 1999. We became friends and never looked back. Barb and Bob loved meeting up with us at Rips in Bowie for dinner and long conversations. I will never forget her kindness or love that she showed my daughter and me over the years. Long phone calls and lots of laughs with Barb and Bob are how she will be remembered.

May God hold her and keep her until we meet again.
