Coach Spin, Mrs. Spinnenweber, and family,

I was heartbroken to hear about Amanda’s sudden passing. As a player on the boys basketball team, I’ll always remember how your family seemed to live in the gym and on the field—so close, so supportive, and so deeply rooted in sports and each other. That environment shaped not just great athletes, but great people.

Amanda’s success at UMD as a national champion stands as a powerful testament to the way she was raised and the unwavering support of her parents and siblings. She clearly carried that love, discipline, and spirit into everything she did.

My heart goes out to the entire Spinnenweber family and to everyone whose lives Amanda touched. I hope that, in time, your memories of her bring comfort and help ease the weight of this loss.

Please accept my sincere condolences.

My fondest memory of Amanda was when she was a little girl, and we visited the playground on Dalesford Road. After we returned to Grandmom Dumler’s house, she realized she left her cherished pocketbook. And she began sobbing inconsolably. I ran back to the playground, praying it would still be there. When I brought it back, her puffy, red face quickly transformed to a beacon of joy! We joked about this incident years later. I will miss her “joie de vivre”.
